The employees at the Safeway are so amazing. I have an older senior friend who called me confused from their pharmacy needing help getting home. The staff at the pharmacy confirmed that she was there, and they called me. The security guard and cashiers looked all over the store, were concerned and helpful in finding her. I really appreciate quality people like this. Such great support and teamwork from everyone involved. Thank you Safeway employees. 🌟

I'm done with Safeway. With there litany of ridiculous app savings, eg. regular members savings, their smoke and mirrors bonus points. When using their app, there's often no wifi so it doesn't work anyway. We had to carefully navigate to get our bottle drop credit from their machine, which you had to find access to and then find access back into the store. What is this customer harassment?! Then when finally at the register the bottle drop credit was far short of what the receipt said! The receipt was cryptic and undecipherable. Why would we do this to ourselves anymore?!

We really appreciate the employees at the 2800 SE Hawthorne Blvd location in Portland! Most recently Mary Elizabeth was at the Fish Counter and gave the most caring, thoughtful customer service to the customers before us and then she also went above and beyond for us also. She was just genuinely engaged and really enjoyed discussing what was on display and was so helpful in such a sweet way. We also have had some great experiences with some of the people who take care of the produce, the really nice lady who restocks will help you anytime you can't find something and honestly the cashiers are just as friendly and just so nice to visit with them every time we go. I wish we could remember everyones names but I one I can always recall is Belinda, she works so hard too and really cares about what she does. Thanks to all the employees who work there!

During a not so busy afternoon, I stopped in for a few items that turned out to be more because of necessary ingredients. I had stopped in produce for some Leeks. There seemed to be none at first glance on the shelves. I stepped over to the first employee and cordially introduced myself. The Man did not say a word at first. He then gestured as if to make me assume that his time was precious and I needed to hurry up and say what I needed to say so I could leave him alone. After mentioning the Leeks were not available, he didn’t make it easy to convince him that there was none available. After visually confirming the Leeks were in fact not on the shelf and the location was being covered by radishes. The man spoke with his associate on the floor and confirmed there was Leeks in the storeroom yet to be replenished. But if there was stock available, why would it not be on the shelf for purchase? The man brought enough stock to fill the shelf with enough for the rest of the day. I thanked him for his service. He spoke no word to me after the initial meeting. Probably for the best. Then as I continued my shopping journey. It has become more prevalent for Employees of grocery stores like Safeway to implement invasive ways to prevent theft. As at every aisle I was collecting my groceries from had a man or woman who was “inconspicuous” to keeping an eye on me. I understand how the industry must suffer from the rise in theft. If that’s going to be the issue, then just keep an employee at the beginning/end of every aisle for continuous monitoring. Cause being inconspicuous is not working. These kinds of shopping experiences can make a person feel uncomfortably reliant on Amazon groceries. At least there’s no substitution on a common basis.
