  To: Vivek Sankaren CEO of Safeway I’ve had multiple uncomfortable experiences at the Safeway on NE Broadway in Portland. On 4/8/2026, while shopping, I felt like I was being followed and watched by individuals in the store. This is not the first time I’ve had this experience at this location. As a customer, I should be able to shop without feeling targeted, monitored, or unsafe. I’ve also noticed that when concerns are raised, management responds with the same generic message asking customers to contact corporate, instead of addressing the issue directly. This pattern makes it feel like customer concerns are not being taken seriously. I am asking Safeway leadership, including CEO Vivek Sankaran, to ensure that all customers—especially those who feel targeted—are able to shop in a safe, respectful, and non-hostile environment. If this continues, it will drive customers away and damage trust in this store. While shopping at Safeway, I was followed by two individuals—a heavy-set transgender man and a transgender woman—which made me feel unsafe and targeted. This kind of harassment is unacceptable. Now Safeway is using these people just like they use Blacks and Browns, people. It’s especially troubling when civil rights protections are used as a weapon to intimidate Black and Brown customers instead of protecting them. Transpeople should know better. Everyone deserves to shop in peace, and Safeway should take steps to ensure all customers feel safe and respected. Went in today 4- 08-26 and again a pink haired transam is watching me.

  Number one Safeway is a solid grocery store in general. Will say new to area and very unfamiliar with the grocery store and layout. Said that, had multiple employees help me. But I personally want to thank a gentleman named Griffon. This guys literally saved the day. Had a massive mixup while ordering online and Griffon not only solved it, but just had a damn good attitude and demeanor. After having a buggy full, he sees me and opens a new line to help push me through. We need more Griffons in this world, not remotely kidding!

  Its quite literally insane that the employees here are allowed to behave so poorly and make unsolicited comments about what you're doing.ill say it must be nice being paid hourly to scalp the pokemon vending machine and be demeaning to anyone who doesnt work there making a purchase or even attempting to check it for fun. What a tragic environment at this point I think the machine is better off being removed if they're that greedy and hate sharing more than a spoiled toddler. Update: INFRONT OF A CHILD NO LESS COME ON. Its a kids game. I understand collecting but we always leave something for the kids if they're in line or buy one for them outright. Disgusting.
