  This is a local place for us and we finally got out to check it out. I am so thankful we did. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was absolutely perfect! Literally my favorite barbecue sandwich in Portland. In the old days, Russell Street was my favorite, they went away, Reverend‘s barbecue was my favorite for a long time, but this sandwich was better than Reverend’s in my opinion. Quality of the meat was just fantastic and the sauce combination was delicious. My partner tried the burnt ends sandwich. Also very good. We tried the waffle fries and Mac for sides. The Mac was very very cheesy. Not my favorite side. Next time I would probably get the waffle fries again or try something else. I wanna regret was not having enough room for the banana pudding dessert. It looks awesome. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant is clean. Atmosphere was pretty good, but the music could’ve been a little less funky. We will return for sure and maybe explore some of the other sides and the dessert, but I will definitely be getting the pulled pork sandwich.

  First time going, we got the Lawless platter. The sauces were all good, not too sweet like you get with some places. The brisket and the ribs were definitely the star players on the platter. They were out of greens, but maybe next time we go.. will definitely be going back.

  Let me just say damn it was good being a Texan I wasn't expecting much after my last round of Portland BBQ I didn't have high expectations but boy did they deliver I got the burnt end sandwich as per suggestion of the hostess whos warm and welcoming vibe made the experience all the better and a side of loaded potato salad that was as it says in the name loaded with flavor

  Thr wings are top notch. Smoked then fried. Do yourself a favor. We tried everything on the menu Its all delicious but the wings are a necessary experience. And dont get me started on the root beer glazed banana pudding.

  It seems clear that Lawless is starting to struggle. Each visit shows another degradation in quality at both the service and food level. Most recently, the red-headed cashier seemed entirely clueless about their offerings and seems incapable of delivering food to waiting customers -- an hour for a serving of burnt ends is... rough. Their interactions with other customers were rude, demanding, and impolite. For a business that doesn't really even offer customer service, it's remarkable how far this individual went to make customers feel unwelcome. To be fair, it seems partially the fault of the rest of the restaurant -- the people responsible for social media aren't communicating with front of house, front of house doesn't talk to the kitchen. Further, the quality of food has clearly degraded. I recognize that beef has become more expensive, but getting mouthful after mouthful of room temperature fat without a hint of smoke is insanely unappetizing. This was after it clearly sat, congealing into a cold, soggy mess. The food isn't quite disgusting yet, but the prices for what they're offering have become so. Here's hoping they can get back to the days when they were customer and food-focused. We're definitely not coming back until they do.
