Friday night. Not that busy. Got seated fairly quick. Long wait time for service. Long wait time to get the food. Ordered New York Strip medium. Came out well done.. Chewy and charred without seasoning. Probably the worst steak I've ever had in the US. Too hungry to send back.. Disappointed..

Greeted immediately and asked about accommodations. Friendly. Lovely. Service all down hill from there. Server never introduced himself, our receipt says Cyrus. He was inattentive and bordered on rude. There were always one or two tables empty in his area. The water server was more attentive. First round of drinks 3 out of 4 ordered Jakes tea. The second round the teas had so much ice in it there was hardly any fluid to speak of. Asked for the 3rd to be taken back and less ice. They dumped the drink into a new much smaller glass sans ice and returned it. The calamari was over cooked. The chowder was great, the salads were wonderful, entrees all seasoned well. Dessert was hit or miss...the apple crisp was jammed into a small ramekin but the cake was wonderful and cooked to perfection.

I hope someone in management is reading this because out of all the years we have been coming we have never been treated like garbage. we made a reservation for a group of 6 on New Year’s Eve & unfortunately we had the worst experience. the greeter at the door who was on a power trip refused to seat us. The reservation was set for 9:00 & the last of the party arrived at 9:05 she was very rude and unprofessional & refused to even give us a break and outright refused any solution we offered just by being a few minutes late. Then she even lied about the doors automatically locking when clearly they still worked. It was very frustrating & disappointing.

New Year’s Eve was a mess Our waitress Maryann was rude. We had a coffee drink then ordered a different one Maryann took the old glasses then stated I am going to reuse them for your next drink . The fish I had smelled extremely fishy smelled bad ( yucky ) At end of meal we were asked by Maryann if we would like anything else I said NO thank you our waitress said I didn’t think so ??? I have been going to Jake’s a very long time but after that awful evening I am rethinking Jake’s as my dining spot .

The service by the waitstaff was excellent, flawless. (The five-star rating given above for "Service" applies only to the dining room waitstaff.) The food was good - not inspired perhaps, but entirely competent. So why only two stars overall? I'm massively dissatisfied with the service by the hostess who seated us, and that colored the entire experience. When I made the reservation on-line a week or two in advance, I requested a booth by the windows if possible. When we arrived, the hostess told me that she couldn't seat us in a window booth. Fair enough - they were quite busy, and all the open window tables were set for parties of four. So we were seated at a table for two next to an interior partition. Not bad; and not what I'd asked for. 15 minutes after we arrived, another couple were shown to a table in the middle of the dining room. The woman was obviously not pleased, wouldn't sit down, spoke to the same hostess who'd seated us. The hostess left, came back, and proceeded to seat them in a window booth one table removed from us. She (or perhaps the waitstaff) picked up the two now-superfluous place settings. This tweaked my playground sense of justice. When I caught her attention, I asked her to explain why that couple rated and we didn't. She said the restaurant seats by server, and the server for the table we were seated at was "up" when we came in. The problem with that is - our server was also taking care of that booth. I told the hostess she needs to come up with a better excuse, and asked to speak with the manager. When I explained the situation, the manager offered to move us to a booth, which now apparently had become possible. We were halfway through our meal, so we declined. He then invited us to sign up for their "frequent diner" program, which includes "preferential seating." I'll give him this - he doesn't lack for gall. I'm pretty sure we'll pass on that, since we have no intention of ever going back. You get one chance to make a bad impression.
