Have been serving downtown Portland for over 130 years, Jake's Famous Crawfish features a variety of fresh fish and seafood flown in daily, making a true Pacific Northwest statement using fresh Northwest products and served in a traditional and timeless presentation.
A Portland institution that occupies the corner frontage a a city block.
From the outside the new is loud, yet inviting. Looking in through the broad glass windows reveals a bustling vibe. There are 3 different seating ambience. Bar Counter, Bar seating and Fine dining (think white tablecloths) if you want a more romantic feel.
The menu is 95% seafood. A fair amount of salmon and fish native to the pacific northwest... but there are surprises scattered throughout. A nod to creole with ettouffe. Escargot snuck in. Dover sole on the menu. And a healthy sprinkle of dungeness crab
Oysters were on point. Wine list was adequate the recommended dish was a little on the heavy side.
Will definitely return, but this time in the quieter section and will look for a simpler preparation of the fish.

Pros:
Great ambiance & service.
The escargot & mashed potatoes were delicious.
Cons:
Salmon was overcooked. Etouffee was flavorless and had too much pepper. Calamari was rubbery. Crab tortellini was underwhelming. Specialty cocktails are wildly overpriced for the unimaginative drink variations that they are.
I haven’t been back to Jake’s in 10 years and I’ll probably wait another 10 to go back.

The space is so vibrant and fun, the menu was exactly what we were looking for. For my first time in I was nervous, perhaps even trepidations but upon entering we were introduced to a true force of nature, a real powerhouse of a server, someone who truly only knows fine dining and breathing. All glory to the might that is Mark and his indomitable presence. What a man, what a myth, what a legend. Not only did he have a near encyclopedic knowledge of the menu, he also was friendly. I don’t think we spent a minute not laughing and giggling at his presence. Mark is a comedy deity and perhaps even a local cryptid of some sort. Despite his music taste lacking and him not knowing who either of us were going to see in concert later that night, he was were able to overcome and find common ground elsewhere.
We will most certainly be back, just to see mark tbh, make sure that if you see him you tip him extra and remind him he’s lucky only his middle name is Larry.
