I've been shopping at this store since they were previously known as Albertson's. I do the majority of my shopping here...for a family of 5 adults. They are not the cheapest place to shop, but they do offer discounts to regular shoppers (on stuff you actually buy) via their app and rewards program. I love the drive up and go! They went through a rough patch of not getting order done in time, mainly when they changed over from Albertson's to Safeway(probably lack of staffing, like everywhere else). Lately, my orders have been ready early and they hold them till 8pm. It takes a while to look through the sale ads and just for U prices (generally minimum of 1 hour to 1 hr 30mins..I do a lot of cooking from scratch)to add all the $ saving offers to your account, then add how many of what to your cart, or list this gives you a very good approximation of how much you will be spending! Love that!. (Side note: I live 30 minutes away...so add 1.5 hrs to shopping my order plus 1hr drive time there and home, drive up and go is a major time saver by eliminating the hour or more it would take to grab all the items on my list). They have reset the store again, so where is everything? It used to be pretty logical to go through and collect certain things in order, now it seems things are scattered to draw you through the whole store for 5 items. Maybe it's me, but I hate it. I rarely grab impulse items when inside...which I'm assuming is the goal of the disorganization...IMO. They usually have the items in stock for online or in-line. They let you select alternate substitutions when filling your order and you can leave notes about how ripe you want your bananas or how many steaks you need. They instant chat via the app to let you know when it is out of stock and if they subbed your selection, or if you want to select another item to substitute. The staff is friendly and helpful. Anything you are dissatisfied with, just call or go online and they credit or make right for you. Ex: your bread is squished from the packing, or your oranges or woody...they stand behind their product and service. Though, I assume, if you were asking for refunds all the time or being unreasonable in your issues, you may get more of a fight over it...only 3 times I've had to complain is over the last 2 years and it was satisfactorily corrected. Their butcher counter is good. I have gotten some very nice cuts from them and the butchers are helpful and do nice work. Thanks for the good cuts! Also their 1lb 80/20 ground beef (store brand) is great for portion control and I don't have to re-wrapp it for long term freezer storage. It also cooks up nice with out the vein and gristle some burger has...that's a real pet peeve for me (gross!) I'm an ad shopper, so I usually bulk buy items I regularly use when on sale. Good sales draw me in and I spend more...plus I buy non-sale items so I don't have to burn up time elsewhere.

I bought the $1.99 a pound chicken breasts that were on sale. I recently learned about woody breast syndrome in chickens. The chicken is like rubber after being cooked. Completely disgusting. I haven't encountered ithat yet with Fred Meyer chicken breasts. Maybe I've just been lucky!

I used to shop at Albertsons every week but ever since they changed to Safeway, their culture has changed to the negative. I can't use Bottle Drop coupons at self-checkout anymore. Whenever there is an issue like being charged too much at the register they make me go to customer service (always a line) to fix it even though there is no one in the register line. The butcher I saw today told me false information. It's like no one is willing to take any initiative anymore. I do have to say, they provide good deals via coupons though. If not for that, I would never step foot in there again.

I enjoy picking up fresh everything bagels from Safeway about once a month and have been doing so for months. Over a year ago, a kind employee advised me to come in at 8 a.m. or later to get them fresh, but I haven't seen her in a very long time. Unfortunately, the current bakery staff has noticeable customer service issues. I arrived at 8:05 a.m. to request some fresh bagels and politely asked for them. The response is always the same: "They're not bagged up yet!" When I reply that it's okay and I'll take them in a donut box instead, the staff members seem upset—mumbling under their breath as they fulfill the request. I'm not sure why asking for six everything bagels warrants this kind of attitude. It makes the experience unpleasant and discourages repeat visits. I'm wondering if Safeway still has an undercover/mystery shopper program—if not, they should bring it back ASAP, starting in places like Klamath Falls. Overall, the bagels themselves are great when fresh, but the service in the bakery needs improvement.
