Don’t go here for breakfast unless you want to be treated rudely and wait forever. Waitress right in front of us ignored us at the entrance. Walked by ignoring us again. Came back to the podium ignoring us again. I asked “are we going to get seated?”

A pint of beer served in a plastic cup? This is a sit-down, table service restaurant/bar priced accordingly. Serving micro brews on tap in a plastic cup is not classy.

I’m loath to post a negative review. As my mother said, if you don’t have something good to say, don’t say anything at all. But this has to be the worst run restaurant I’ve ever been to. We went back two days back to back. The first day it was not busy but yet the service took forever. The next day we went for a parent event, the kitchen and bar were so backed up, we could barely order a drink and they informed us that the restaurant was at least an hour out for anything. We had to leave and it was so backed up I couldn’t close my tab. So I asked the bartender what would happen if I didn’t close the tab and she assured me they would charge a 20% tip at most and shook my hand on it. I woke up to a 60% tip deducted this morning. Needless to say we will never be going there again.

Good atmosphere but a little loud. Service was terrible! Took over an hour to get 3 egg Benedicts 1 omelette and took 20 minutes just to get a coffee refill. We saw our food on the counter for 15 minutes but not a single waiter picked it up. Food was really good. Would highly recommend the original Benedict. The potatoes that come with it were a little hard but still tasty.

New Wild Duck owners Charles Haasenritter and family, including his son Kilohana, a duck running back, have restored a traditional hangout while decades old stalwarts such as The Pad, Taylors and Duffy’s shuttered their doors. After joining the others and closing in 2022 after COVID, the Wild Duck reopened in September of 2024 with new owners, the Hassenritter family, who brought a new menu with Hawaiian selections and over 30 different other dishes from burgers and fries to eggs Benedict. A little after a year since reopening with the expanded menu, beer, wine and liquor selections and a number of new decorations including Ducks, scoreboards and other one of a kind memorabilia, the free parking has also been expanded making sitting under the famous mural featuring Ken Keysey and the Floydian Slip a must when I visit Eugene. At former Duck football coach Don Read’s remembrance in April, we gathered to remember 50 years ago below the mural and drank cold beer and ate delicious food, unlike the dorm food 50 years ago. We joined a Hall of Famer at the event I will always remember! Even though the crowd packed the place and our food took a while longer to arrive, every wing, fry, pretzel and artichoke dip bite was warm, crunchy and delicious. GO DUCKS!
