Safeway on 3rd has always been my go to store but...I hate that they've gone to debit or credit cards only at self checkout. Sometimes I only have one or two items and the regular check out lines are either too long or have people with LOADED carts. I have a debit card, but don't like using it for just a few dollars...sad

If I could give negative zero stars just for the service we received from Adam, I would. I will never shop here again because of him.

I usually go to the Safeway on Hwy 20. I needed a few items for a dip so I stopped at the 3rd St Safeway after work. One of the items I needed was salsa. I found one on sale "Red Hot Sale". Scanned the price on my app but it didn't recognize the sale. So I took a picture so I could show cashier. I have experienced Safeway mistakes and they have acknowledged them with no problem. So the employee with the ponytail from customer service came to help, she chose not fix the problem right away with me and went to look. I waited quite awhile. She comes back with the "Red Hot Sale" sticker in her hands letting me know it was wrong. She points out the difference in the product codes. Then she says that is way too discounted but the manager will honor it. Bad customer service. What she should have done with no questions is honor the price and go back and fix the mistake. Basically, she was scolding me for their mistake. I'm sure most customers do not look at their product codes to be sure they martch. We all get discounts on items and never question the amount the store issues. If it's tagged correctly or the customer wants to verify there should never be no scolding or blaming a customer for their mistake.

I have bought a rib roast for Christmas from here for the last 6 years. This year they decide that I have to spend $50 in the store, not including the $88 roast or a plethora of other items, in order to get the discount. Absolutely ridiculous, I am done shopping at this store. In the past their over priced items were worth the deals and the convenience, but not anymore.

This location is listed as closing at 11 PM on the door sign, on Google, and on Apple Maps, all clearly consistent with one another. Tonight, I arrived at 10:53 PM to find both front doors locked, with customers still inside. Another customer and I were greeted at the door by an employee who rudely said, “We’re closed. East-side is open until midnight.” I showed him the time on my phone, pointed to the sign on the door that says they’re open until 11 PM, and reminded him of the posted closing time. He repeated, “We’re closed, go to East-side.”
If you have a sick child at home in need of medication to sleep comfortably, this is not the store to go to.
If the store closes at 11 PM, the doors should remain open until 11 PM; otherwise, the posted closing time should be adjusted accordingly.
