Our original Public House has been a vibrant fixture of the downtown Bend, Oregon scene since 1988. Not only were our very first beers brewed here – think Black Butte Porter and Jubelale – but we quickly became a gathering spot for locals and visitors alike. While the beer speaks for itself through a total of 19 taps, our chefs also put the same quality and hand-crafted excellence into the cuisine. Our beer-centric menu features fresh ingredients, many sourced from local farmers, foragers and ranchers with whom the team has built strong relationships over the years. Most menu items are hand-crafted from scratch whenever possible, and several items are made with spent grain from the brewing process. Come visit us at Bend’s original brew pub and see where it all began.

Deschutes Brewery is a must if you’re in Bend. Huge beer selection plus ciders, wine, and a full vegan menu. Hot pretzels, pizzas, and the fish are all excellent, and even the Bloody Mary is solid. Cozy atmosphere with great music and festive lights when we visited. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Highly recommend stopping by, especially for the fish sandwich.

The food is reliably great and the beer is awesome, but wow, the service here is absolutely incredible! We regularly visit when traveling with our two dogs, and no matter the season, the staff have always so kindly accommodated us on the patio.

Huge kudos to Endika our server and EJ!!!
From shopping to lunch our experience was first rate. Terrific staff!!!
The French onion soup was excellent and close to the best I’ve ever had. The mezze platter was wonderful with large portion of hummus and phenomenal fluffy focaccia. Soup of day potato bacon was also creamy deliciousness. Artichoke cheese dip served piping hot. In house root beer was very good. Husband liked all the beers on the reserve tray and loved the dill pickle sour.
Lovely selection of merchandise!

A visit to the Deschutes Brewery and Public House on a crisp November evening felt less like a simple dinner outing and more like a long-anticipated homecoming. For years, I’ve considered Black Butte Porter, Obsidian Stout, and the legendary Abyss Imperial Stout to be staples in my rotation. To finally taste them on tap, right here at the source, was an experience that truly lived up to the hype.
I was lucky enough to visit with family, and the Public House provided the perfect warm, lively atmosphere for our gathering. While my core group of favorites was available, I opted for a special treat: the Black Butte XXXVII Imperial Porter, a richer, more decadent cousin to the classic. It was the perfect companion to my BBP Sausage Sandwich, and paired together they were absolutely terrific, showcasing the brewery’s commitment to quality both in the glass and on the plate.
The best part, however, was seeing the joy on my family's faces, even those less versed in craft beer. Our server made an excellent recommendation for the family members who typically stick to lighter options like Coors Light, suggesting the Helles Lager. They were genuinely surprised by how much they enjoyed its clean, refreshing profile. My father-in-law, a dedicated PBR fan, was also pleased with his selection. We even had an adventurous order at the table, the Dill Pickle Sour, which was surprisingly complex and much tastier than I could have imagined.
The dinner was a fantastic blend of delicious food, spectacular beer, and shared moments. It was truly a great experience to have with my entire family. Before leaving, I made sure to stop at the gift shop, walking out with a haul of souvenirs including wall tins, hats, growlers, and t-shirts, ensuring a little piece of Deschutes came home with me. Highly recommended for any beer lover passing through Bend!
