Our original Public House has been a vibrant fixture of the downtown Bend, Oregon scene since 1988. Not only were our very first beers brewed here – think Black Butte Porter and Jubelale – but we quickly became a gathering spot for locals and visitors alike. While the beer speaks for itself through a total of 19 taps, our chefs also put the same quality and hand-crafted excellence into the cuisine. Our beer-centric menu features fresh ingredients, many sourced from local farmers, foragers and ranchers with whom the team has built strong relationships over the years. Most menu items are hand-crafted from scratch whenever possible, and several items are made with spent grain from the brewing process. Come visit us at Bend’s original brew pub and see where it all began.

Beer is decent for central Oregon standards but the food should really be avoided all around. My partner got the “halloumi fried chicken sandwich” special and the whole thing was a mess. She couldn’t even eat the chicken it was stringy like I’ve never seen before and completely chewy nastiness. Obviously when the server saw she didn’t eat it he asked how it was and she said it was terrible he said “yeah that happens every once and a while” and guess what, it still ended up on the bill. I won’t even get into the other dishes we had. Don’t waste your time, Spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

Wouldn’t normally leave a review like this from a single experience, but getting sick after eating here tonight does not seem something to keep to myself. Got a burger. Ordered it medium. Took a bite and pure raw meat. Fast forward a few hours later and feeling nauseous and let’s just say not great. Hope it’s a one off but definitely derailed my plans for the evening on my trip to Bend.

After an 8 hour drive, my sweetheart and I were famished.Upon entering the brew pub, right out the gate, our host Zann was so incredibly accommodating and
even though it was 8 PM on a Friday evening, we were seated immediately and served very quickly by our very gracious server, Brit. We were helped by other food runners, and bussers each one of them as professional as the last what an excellent team!! great job Deschutes! We even got some great local leads on places to rockhound! We will definitely be back to visit. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE and yummy food and drinks🙂

Its a legend in Bend. The beer that really helps define a city can be found here. From the iconic names like Mirror Pond Ale to Bachelor Bitter. Good food, good service, and prices that are reasonable.

Deschutes remains a true Bend institution and is always a great place to visit. My burger was great, cooked to a nice medium (I had ordered medium-well). As usual, the beer was excellent. I decided to try the 2022 Cherry Jubelale from the reserve list—it was a delicious sipping beer. In retrospect, an IPA would have paired better with the burger, but it was still great. The fries were also good, they seemed hand-cut,, even for someone picky like me.
