I wasn’t going to leave a review, but I hope this feedback helps so this doesn’t happen to someone else in the future.
A few weeks ago I placed an online order the day before for a work event — nothing huge: two brunch boxes, bagels, and coffee. When I showed up to pick it up, I was told they had a busy morning, ran out of bagels, and that none of my order (aside from the coffee) could be fulfilled.
My main questions are: why wasn’t I called ahead of time? And if an order is submitted and paid for online in advance, shouldn’t those items be accounted for before serving orders that weren’t submitted ahead of time?
I was facilitating a class downtown and was counting on this order. A quick phone call would have allowed me to find other arrangements.
They offered a refund, but the card used was a corporate card my boss paid with online. I didn’t have it with me, which meant she had to come in on her time off a couple days later just to process the refund. That was another inconvenience that could have been avoided.
They did offer for me to take the coffee and be charged for that. I declined. Then they offered it for free, but at that point, I was trying to figure out what to do next.
Thankfully, Muchas Gracias next door saved the day with breakfast burritos, and the class was actually really excited about it, so it all worked out. But the panic in the moment could have been completely avoided with a simple phone call.
