It has been so long since I’ve been to such an extravagant and well organized restaurant. Pickle barrel went over the top with the food, and wow the service that was provided by Ruby was spectacular. She cared for me and my family, checked up on us regularly and was speedy with drink refills when needed.
She had recommended great menu items, which, by the way, that food blew my top off. I was shocked to see how fast Ruby could maneuver her way around the restaurant and deliver food in such a pristine condition. I would love to have Ruby as my server again and don’t hesitate to ask for her too if you go.

First time in as long as I can remember I haven’t tipped at least 20%. Our server did not smile or engage in polite conversation but was smiling and chatting with the other tables. It felt like we were a bother to her to serve. My mom asked for milk with her tea and she brought cream. Took for ever to get that changed. Then when my mom went to make her tea there was no tea bag. When she was done at the table beside us and started walking away my mom said excuse me and the server ignored her and kept walking. So my mom said excuse me again a little louder and she turned her head to the side and said rudely I’ll be a minute! She finally came back and laughed when my mom asked for a tea bag. She checked on us once when we were almost done our meal. The gentleman who brought our meals was very nice. It took forever to get a take out box as she asked if I needed one and then went to get it and came back empty handed and had to go again to get it! And then it took forever to get our bills which when we were paying was the only time she was friendly! I didn’t even want to tip what I did and had she not been standing there watching It definitely would have been a much lower tip!
Food was great and the gentleman who brought our food was nice.

Our last experience will likely be our last. When we first visited a few years ago the food and service were amazing. Every visit since seems to have gone down hill each time. This past time was the worst so far. The food was okay at best. Service and food were very slow, despite not many people in for dinner at 6. Our drinks weren't refilled, we had to keep asking for everything. The service was okay but bare minimum; it definitely has been way better in the past.
It seems like they have gotten away from the quality of the sandwiches which is what kept us coming back at the start. The menu is very odd. If they focused back on good smoke meat sandwiches and burgers, it could be way better. For $100 for 4 people, I will go to Jacks in St. Jacobs instead.

Visited pickle barrel yesterday (Nov 11/25) and was disappointed with the experince.
It took aprx 30 mins to get a single drink and almost 60 mins for our food to arrive, when the food came we were missing a few things and 2/3 issues were never corrected, we barely finished in time for the paint night activity (arrived at 455 painting started at 630) had to ask multiple times for things including the bill, and at one point while we were waiting for the bill and drinks for the painting the waitress was just standing at the bar for about 5-10 before walking away to other tables and another waitress ended up assisting us.
My friends have been here multiple times and said its usually a little slow, but was shocked at how long it took last night, and it truly wasn't that busy at all.

This is one of the worst dine in experiences I’ve had in a long time. I have so many things to say but I’ll summarize it. For one, we waited about 5-10 minutes just to be seated in a, what seemed to be almost empty restaurant. Secondly, the waiter forgot the drink I ordered and I just forgot about it but then it took close to 25 minutes for just 2 7oz steak meals. The quality of the steak was horrid, I felt as though I was cutting through a brick of rubber. Along with the fact that he also forgot the pickles which is IN THE NAME of the restaurant! At least the pickles were half decent when we asked for them. But please, do not waste your time and money here, I went hoping for a nice lunch but ended up getting a 1 hour half arm workout session cutting the steak.
