My wife Atie and myself had a wonderul bread making class with Harold Zuleta. He was an excellent teacher who broke down the steps for each of the 4 breads in a simple and understandable fashion so that the techniques we learned will stay with us. All of the breads turned out spectacularly!!!

A really fun experience! Did the Paella cooking class + Salsa dance! It was very fun! The cooking experience is definitely a bit less hands on in terms of being part of the whole experience, my partner and I got to do some chopping and plating, while other couple got to handle the work with the pans and such. But the quality of food was EXCELLENT ingredients are super fresh and high quality, and everything tasted great! It generally felt like a very involved and community kinda process! The dance class was also super fun and approachable as a complete beginner and extremely awkward and stiff body. By the end I actually was beginning to have a bit of confidence! Definitely excellent stuff. Shoutout to Chef Harold, host Bonny and Dance instructor Katya for all doing an amazing job and making the experience wonderful!

Would not recommend the mixed cooking and mixology class we attended. Several items listed on the menu at registration — including the cheese and accompaniments — were not initially provided. By 7pm we were all quite hungry, and we had to ask about them. The chef initially said they weren’t part of the menu, despite them being clearly listed when we signed up. The cheese was eventually brought out, but the experience felt disorganized and uncomfortable. In terms of the “cooking” component, our participation was limited to cutting potatoes and shallots. Given how the class was framed, I expected a much more hands-on experience. The mousse that was prepared by the chef for us was extremely sweet and unfortunately inedible. Overall, the evening didn’t feel reflective of the cost. I had genuinely been looking forward to this class, as I love to cook, and left disappointed. Perhaps their regular cooking-only classes are stronger, but I would not recommend this particular mixed format.

Had the absolute best time at The Chef Upstairs. Chef Lisa was amazing from showing us the proper way to hold a knife to the importance of using the right kind salt and how to season properly. Food was absolutely delicious and was a fun hands on experience. Highly recommend. Will definitely be back.
