  Añejo in Toronto feels like yet another Mexican spot in the GTA that blends into the chain‑restaurant mold. While the atmosphere is lively and the service attentive, the food itself doesn’t do much to set the place apart. The menu delivers what you’d expect — standard fare that’s pretty good, somewhat authentic, but ultimately reminiscent of the kind of meals you’d find at an all‑inclusive resort in the Mayan Riviera. That said, the overall experience is pleasant, and the restaurant works well for larger groups thanks to its spacious layout and friendly staff. If you’re looking for a reliable option with familiar flavors and a social vibe, Añejo fits the bill, but don’t expect it to break new ground in Toronto’s Mexican dining scene.

  I’ve been coming here since this place opened, but over the past few months the quality has really gone down. I was there last Saturday night with my gf and ordered the Birria, The sauce that came with it was just oil with no flavour, and the birria itself wasn’t crispy enough. Then I ordered 6 tacos. The tortillas were dry and breaking apart, even though they gave me double tortillas. The tilapia pieces were also very uneven in size—three were very small and one was much bigger. It was over-crispy and hard to bite, On top of that pork and beef were dry and had no flavour at all, never expected this kind of service from this location, never coming back, I recommend king street location

  We were seated outside because we had a dog with us, so we walked through the restaurant and the decor is beautiful! Very elegant and dark aesthetics. The food was great, I think that maybe having 1 or 2 more vegetarian options would be amazing! But whatever items I COULD have were great! We had the molcajete and tacos veganos. The tortillas come out in a tortilla warmer, which kept them nice and soft. Our server brought out the guacamole and pounded it fresh at the table, it was a nice experience and so simple! The only downside was that there were too many hornets flying around our table and landing on our food, it made the experience less enjoyable; our server forgot that we were outside a few times too so we had to go inside to ask for certain things. Overall, a great experience and I’d love to sit in the dining room on my next visit!

  I celebrated my birthday at Añejo, and it was truly one of the most memorable nights of my life. Our server, Turkana, gave us the absolute best service—warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. She made the entire evening feel special. A huge thank-you as well to Chef Chielo and the entire staff. The chef personally came out to greet me and even joined the staff in singing happy birthday. It was such a beautiful and unexpected gesture that made me feel incredibly appreciated. The food was absolutely amazing, and the atmosphere was perfect. The combination of delicious dishes, outstanding service, and the heartfelt effort from everyone made this birthday unforgettable. If I could give more than 5 stars, I absolutely would. I highly recommend Añejo—my night was perfect, full of memories I’ll cherish forever.

  I was very disappointed with the experience today. We were sat really quickly although that is no surprise as it was not busy and a lot of tables were open. After putting in our order, we received our tacos and noticed the tortillas we specified for the tacos were mixed up. I ordered corn tortillas for my 4 tacos and got 2 flour and 2 corn while my partner also didn't get the specified tortilla for one of her tacos. We decided to move on from it and just eat it but then once we finished the tacos we found ourselves waiting for about 15 minutes with empty plates waiting for our server to clear our plates and take our next order. Also it felt like nobody knew where they were going as we saw multiple servers or food runners go to the wrong table and tables had to say it wasn't for them (happened with our food too). While putting in an additional order for tacos I also asked for our bill as we were already waiting a long time, I didn't want to do that again. We got our tacos (again with some wrong tortillas) and no bill. After bringing up the tortilla situation I asked for the bill again and a take out box as we had to head out and didn't have much time. We sat waiting for the bill for another 10-15 minutes. The experience was definitely not great. Everything took forever and we could even hear the table next to us complain to each other about how long it was taking servers to check up on them. We arrived around 3:50 and left at 5:10 and only interacted with our server 3 times (1st order, 2nd order, bill payment). There was no quality checks after our food arrived and it felt like we were forgotten about. Overall, food was alright in taste but accuracy of orders could improve, service was not up to par and it wasn't just the server, as multiple people were going to wrong tables and the overall atmosphere was good, but hearing other tables also not be a fan of the wait times to talk to their servers didn't help the vibe.
