--- EAT ELSEWHERE IF YOU HAVE CELIAC DISEASE; THIS RESTAURANT CANNOT ACCOMMODATE YOU. ---
My second time at Anejo was with a friend who has celiac disease. Unfortunately, this dietary requirement rendered the service to our table absolutely abysmal. My friend was asked if it was okay if her food was fried in the same fryer as everyone else's (no, it is not okay; there is a risk of cross-contamination), so she had to change her order on the spot. She also ordered guacamole, and when the guac arrived, the server tells her that the bowl is porous and there is a risk of cross-contamination, but does she want to risk it, anyway? (No, of course she does not.) She was also told that there "may be a chance of wheat" in the chips, but does she want to risk it, anyway? (No. She does not.) Because of this apparently ground-breaking, earth shattering dietary requirement, the rest of the food showed up late (we got our starters after our mains were delivered), and nobody seemed to know what they were doing. To top it all off, even though we got to the restaurant at 5:30 PM on a Saturday, the service was incredibly slow, and it took 15 minutes for us to get our drinks. The servers seemed absolutely bored, and even when the manager came over to ask how everything was (after the celiac debacle had been kind of sorted out), he did very little to make us feel like the situation had been remedied. Overall, an absolutely appalling experience. I will never come back.

I had a great experience at Añejo! Our bartender, Shakila, was amazing, loved everything she suggested and made incredible cocktails. Every drink was perfectly balanced and so delicious. Can’t wait to visit again soon.

So yesterday went with friends for a birthday. Asked for the molcajete de carne with beef because my wife doesn't eat pork. When they brought it I asked if it was beef or pork. The server said not sure and went to check with kitchen and said beef. I asked again cause it didn't look like beef and she confirmed. Then the bartender who took our order came over and he confirmed it was beef. He asked "we just checked with the kitchen but if you really want I can double check with them again?". We said yes. And it turned out to be pork. They were great after the fact offering to remake it and comped it which we appreciated. I get mistakes happen but it shouldn't require multiple checks with multiple staff members before a mistake is caught.
