From the moment we entered, we were treated differently than other customers. Associates immediately questioned whether we had already received samples in a condescending and accusatory manner. Other customers in the store were not spoken to this way, which made the interaction feel racially motivated and deeply inappropriate. Instead of being welcomed, we felt monitored and judged. We raised this concern with the assistant manager, who showed little to no concern and made no effort to address the situation or how uncomfortable it made us feel. It’s unfortunate because the chocolate itself was amazing, which makes the experience even more disappointing. The product quality cannot make up for how we were treated. This visit left us feeling shitty after making a long trip specifically to come here. Management and corporate leadership need to take accountability, review staff conduct, and address discriminatory treatment of customers. This behavior is unacceptable and deserves immediate attention.
