I genuinely have never felt more uncomfortable or disgusted in a restaurant in my life, and it has absolutely nothing to do with the food, it’s entirely the management and the way this place is run. The moment you walk in, it’s complete chaos. They are so obviously understaffed it’s almost unbelievable, with exhausted employees scrambling around trying to keep up while tables pile up and customers are left waiting endlessly. But the worst part by far is the manager. I witnessed her aggressively yelling and cussing at staff in front of everyone, not even attempting to be discreet. It wasn’t just frustration, it was straight-up verbal abuse, degrading and humiliating employees like it was completely normal. At one point, an employee looked like they were on the verge of tears, and the manager just kept going. It was honestly disturbing to watch. The entire place feels deeply unethical. It’s clear they’re overworking staff, likely underpaying them, and creating a toxic environment where people are treated as disposable. There’s no sense of professionalism, no respect, and no accountability. As a customer, it made me feel complicit just sitting there, supporting a business that operates this way. I couldn’t even enjoy my meal because the tension in the room was so thick. I would never come back here, and I strongly urge anyone considering it to think twice, no business that treats its employees this poorly deserves your money.

I orderd from here with Uber Eats on March 29 to eat in my hotel room. Let me just say that I started being sick Monday morning around 2am and have literally been throwing up for 24 hours. I'm still in bed typing this. I have had food poisoning before but this one was extremely bad. They need to send the health board in. That kitchen and meal prepers need to be fired. Management should be ashamed of themselves. This is typical of the cleanliness and food quality that has changed over the years. When you hire people that couldn't care less this is what you get. Shame on you!!!!

Had a great experience at the Swiss Chalet at Harry Walker Pky. We were greeted by the owner who took the time to talk to us and asked us how our days was going! Our server, Snobi, was amazing. Very attentive, friendly and personable. She made a point of checking in throughout our meal to ensure that everything was to our satisfaction. Overall, we had a very enjoyable evening.

What a hidden gem. After an intensive morning of deep work at the computer, I found myself craving a classic rotisserie chicken. A quick search for Swiss Chalet Newmarket led me here in under ten minutes—conveniently situated on Harry Walker Drive, just a stone’s throw from the new Costco. While this location is more intimate than your typical Swiss Chalet, its scale is its strength; it feels perfectly calibrated for the local community. The environment is very clean, well-lit, and professionally maintained. My waitress, Snoby, was exceptionally courteous and promptly seated me at a comfortable booth. I ordered the half-chicken and fries (pictured below). Shortly after, I had the pleasure of meeting the General Manager. She noticed me taking pictures and checked in with a genuine curiosity that sparked a wonderful conversation. We discussed her commitment to food quality and the nuances of managing a franchise in today’s climate.

I’ve tried to be patient, but I’ve finally given up. This restaurant used to be a staple back when they were at the 404 Plaza—the quality was excellent and the service was reliable. Since the move and the apparent change in ownership/management, it has been a complete downward spiral. The service is now consistently horrendous. My recent experiences include: Poor Food Quality: I recently picked up an order for my office and the food was borderline inedible. Both chickens were clearly reheated, dried out, and tough, while the vegetables looked and tasted old. I picked it up 20 minutes after ordering on the app, so there was no excuse for it to be in that condition. Zero Accountability: When I called to complain about the "disgusting" quality of that meal, I was told a manager would call me back. That call never came. Inattentive Staff: I went in today to try ordering in person (since the app orders have been so bad). I stood at the takeout entrance for several minutes. The "front door" notification triggered, and I rang the bell twice. Despite hearing staff walking and talking in the back, I was completely ignored. I eventually just walked out. It’s unfortunate to see a once-great spot run so poorly by the current owners and management. The service industry has really taken a hit lately, and this location is a prime example of it. I won't be returning.
