  From the moment Derek approached our table, the atmosphere shifted — as if the restaurant lights dimmed, a spotlight appeared, and an orchestral soundtrack quietly swelled in the background. Derek didn’t just serve our meal. He delivered an experience. Every refill appeared with the timing of a seasoned actor hitting his cue. Every recommendation was offered with the confidence of someone who knows the menu like a poet knows their finest verse. And every interaction felt like we were being guided through a beautifully curated culinary journey. It wasn’t dinner. It was a performance. If East Side Mario’s had a Hall of Fame, Derek would already be enshrined — framed in gold, standing heroically with a garlic loaf in hand. Do yourself a favour: If Derek is working… consider your night MADE.

  I think my expectations are too high. Hamilton has ALOT of fantastic privately owned/small business restaurants with amazing service and food. They don't cost anymore than East Side Mario's is what my point is. But our experience tonight was below meh. Food is bland, service was awful. My wife's drink remained empty for over 15 minutes. We had put some garbage at the edge of the table. 2 servers came to help us but the garbage remained. Overall sad experience.

  I had pre-booked a party for 16 a week in advance for a birthday celebration. I specifically requested a larger table to allow our elderly grandparents extra space to move around comfortably. Unfortunately, when we arrived, our reservation wasn’t ready — we waited about 20 minutes for our table to clear. To our surprise, two single guests had been seated at the large table meant for our group, and the staff refused to move them. We were instead placed at a smaller table meant for 14 people, leaving everyone elbow to elbow. There weren’t enough seats for our entire party — my grandfather ended up sitting on his walker at the end of the table, and a staff member told him he was “in the way.” When we noticed that the two guests had left, we asked to be moved to our originally booked table, but the hostess responded with, “I don’t know what you want me to do,” and refused to move us, even though we had just sat down and hadn’t ordered yet. Service throughout the meal was disappointing — several items were forgotten, and I had to ask four separate times for my soup. When the bills arrived, nearly every one needed to be corrected. I’ve always enjoyed this restaurant and appreciated its family-friendly atmosphere, but the customer service has clearly gone downhill. It was a frustrating and disappointing experience for what was supposed to be a special occasion
