When I’m bringing a team from Paul Smith’s College to compete in or near Cornwall, I try to get us to East Side Mario’s for our pre-race dinner. The menu and offerings have proven to work well given the dietary restrictions among our athletes.
Natalie has been our waitress several times and our students are delighted to have her again.
The service has been very efficient every time.

Ate here with my cross country team from Paul Smith’s College. The food was great, the restaurant was busy but everything came out quickly. Our server Natalie made sure we had everything we needed, and made the experience great. We’ve eaten here 3 times within the last year and we’ve had her as our server every time. It’s always been great service and great food!!!

Hailey was such a good waitress! She was quick, friendly and attentive. She checked back for drink refills but also didn’t bother us. She recommended yummy dessert options and showed us a picture. I hope she’s my waitress every time. It was the best experience I’ve ever had at East Side Mario’s!!! I will be back again soon!! Thanks Hailey with an i!!!!

Food is average or maybe a tad below. Far from home Italian cooking it's average chain restaurant fare meaning warmed up frozen processed product and warmed up bagged soup.
As far as service the host was friendly and cordial. However our starting waiter was loud, obnoxious ans poorly trained as a waiter. Thankfully a female waitress took over and she was personable, well trained, and friendly.
What's worse you pay thru the nose for all this.

East Side's has upped their game in the past couple of years. The franchise went down hill for quite a while, but I'm very happy to say that they're back and better than ever. It was always a favorite during university at Waterloo filling up on bread, soup and salad and taking your entree home for late night or the next day on a shoestring budget. Unfortunately, the salads lost their quality for a while, portions dwindled, service was poor and it just wasn't worth going anymore to my great disappointment. Not anymore!
I have to say that East Side's is kicking Olive Garden's ass. Big time. The garlic loaf absolutely destroys the undercooked bread sticks. It's delicious, satisfying, and there is always enough butter to make you happy.
The salads are now the very best in a chain restaurant bar none. East Side's is now making them fresh right then and there, chopping the iceberg or romaine upon order, adding the dressing and the rest and mixing it up right before it's delivered to your table. They have not succumbed to the chain restaurant sad, wilted, browning and no variation bagged lettuce colossal disappointment like Chili's and others went to a few years ago. The salads are fantastic and one feels so healthy afterwards with the fresh ingredients and ability to make a small change or two to make it to your preference.
The entree portions are better than they were during the downturn, and they are coming out plentiful, delicious and hot. The menu is deep and has many options for everyone.
I went to the East Side's in Cornwall and in Oshawa on recent trips back home to Ontario to visit my parents and then return again for Easter. It was so good on the first trip I went twice, and was so excited to come back I went with my girlfriend 3 times in 4 days. I wish we had East Side's in New England... they upped the bar and are now exceeding expectations for quality, taste, post-meal happiness, service and value in this difficult economy and times. East Side's puts Olive Garden and Chili's to shame. Thank you, East Side Mario's for taking your job seriously, bringing your A-game, and for delivering on what should be every restaurant's promise to the paying public. Boom!
