  I recently visited State & Main in Barrie for a lunch meeting and it was a wonderful experience. The restaurant offers a modern, relaxed, and professional atmosphere, making it a great place for business conversations while enjoying a delicious meal. The food quality was excellent, service was friendly, and the environment allowed for comfortable and productive discussions without feeling rushed.

  While the Ahi Tuna sushi failed to leave a lasting impression, the rest of the evening was a revelation. The Caesar Salad was, without exaggeration, the best I have ever had. It was a masterclass in balance: a generous mountain of high-quality cheese, perfectly prepared chicken, and a standout dressing that tied everything together. The kitchen did face an initial stumble when our steaks and mashed potatoes arrived cold. However, the staff handled the situation with impressive speed and professionalism. The replacement steaks were flawless—perfectly cooked and worth the wait. To finish, the Mocha and Brownie were pure magic, both in presentation and taste. Despite the minor service hiccup, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and care at this establishment. I will certainly be returning.

  Stefanie was a wonderful waitress. She gave us lots of time to visit and enjoy our meal as she knew we were celebrating both of retirement and a birthday. The food was flavourful and great serving portions. I would definitely recommend this state and main location.

  We and another couple just enjoyed our first time at this location. We enjoyed ourselves greatly as the atmosphere from the moment we walked in was of fun and enjoyment. Our server, Catt, was quick with the comebacks to my ongoing jokester ways. She was training a new girl but it was seamless and great. The GM, David (I think) and the other manager were constantly checking on our table to ensure we were enjoying ourselves. The food was really good too! We had the flat bread, shrimp and dumplings as a shared starter. Our mains were chicken wings, teriyaki rice bowl, fish &chips and the beef dip. As we had a food allergy with my wife, Catt and the trainee redirected her from her first choice to her second choice meal and still made sure that our order was marked with the allergy alert. Even our idiosyncrasies were all addressed. We will definitely be returning here to eat again. No pictures as we were too busy having fun to be taking pics of food.

  I had such a great experience at State & Main, in Barrie, and a big part of that was my server, Marisa. I came in planning to get some work done, enjoy a glass of wine, and then have dinner, and she read the vibe perfectly. She gave me space when I needed to focus, checked in at just the right times, and never made me feel rushed. You can tell she genuinely loves what she does and has plenty of experience. She’s personable, funny, and very easy to talk to, the kind of server who makes you feel comfortable right away. Service felt natural, not forced, which I really appreciated. Management even came by to check in, which says a lot about the team. The restaurant was clean, the music wasn’t too loud (perfect for working and relaxing), and when I did order my meal, it arrived in a great amount of time and was absolutely delicious. Marisa truly made my visit enjoyable from start to finish. I’ll definitely be back! Thank you.
