Tried the popcorn shrimp at Swiss Chalet and honestly, the taste is amazing. Super crunchy on the outside with a nice, meaty texture inside — definitely satisfying if you love crispy seafood.
My only concern was that some shrimp didn’t seem fully cleaned (the vein/intestine wasn’t removed in a few pieces). It didn’t ruin the flavor, but it’s something I think they should pay more attention to for better quality control.
Overall, really enjoyed the crunch and flavor — just hoping for more consistency in preparation next time!

My spouse and I came to Swiss Chalet for lunch in February, and we had a wonderful experience. Our waitress, Maria, was absolutely lovely, very attentive, kind, and understanding throughout our visit. The meal itself was excellent, just what we were hoping for. What truly made this visit special, however, was the extra care Maria showed when I ordered a lunch to go for my mother, who lives in a long-term care home. Maria thoughtfully made sure that all the cutlery and condiments were included, which meant a great deal to us, as the home does not provide these items. That level of care and consideration really stood out. Thank you, Maria, for your exceptional service and for being so genuinely kind. We will definitely be back.
NOTE: I'm mainly writing this review based on the take out service and area provided. I have tried the dine in at this location, but have not been to this specific location in a long time to dine in.
We have been coming to this location for some time now since we moved out to the Pickering/Ajax area as we usually have never had issues with the take out service. However, as of late and not sure why, but the quality of the take out counter has just been on a downward trend. We usually order the food in advance and most of the time, you will be ignored when you arrive to pick up your food. I understand that the staff does need to step away to prepare the take outs or to fill in the orders, but it is a whole scale above that when you are seen waiting and ignored until you call out. This has happen recently where another customer had to actually step into the kitchen area to call out to an employee to be finally served after waiting for a while.
However, the food never had any issues and so we kept on going back. But with the most recent visit, we will no longer be visiting this location. We ordered a Chicken Parmesan Classic for the kids and went to pick it up and to my surprise, it all went so well. Got the food almost immediately and took it home. But alas, one of the main components of the Chicken Parmesan was missing - the pasta. So take it back, and I was told that we had "ordered incorrectly" as their print slip only said Chkn Parm, No Thank You (this option is for the vegatables option you select online ifyou'd like some), and Garlic Bread. So, they said that since we only chose those, thats all they put in the box. So I showed the employee how we order online and that there isn't even an option to select no pasta or an option that you HAVE to select if you wanted pasta. However, still, was told that we are in the wrong and so got our food back and will be done with this location going forward.
I know its only one person who is upset and won't really affect the restaurant at all, but at this rate, and with the price increases that occur all the time, I'm not sure if the service offered is sufficient to keep customers coming back. But again, just my two cents and feedback and that is all.

I came to order the 2 can dine coupon for takeout(pickup). The guy ringing in my order just stood there, not knowing that to do. No trouble shooting, no asking a coworker for help, no sense of customer service- just stood there staring blankly for 5 minutes. I decided I didn’t want someone so slow like that making my food so I just walked out and didn’t say anything. They really be hiring bottom of the barrel employees out there now a days……

We placed a large family order (about $75) and requested mashed potato gravy on the side because there was limited space for special instructions in the online system. When we got home, we realized they had substituted the Chalet sauce — which normally comes with the family meal — with extra gravy instead.
I called to explain the mistake and asked if they could bring the Chalet sauce since it was their error. They refused. My only options were to pay for a new order or drive back to the store to swap it myself.
In other words, I had to absorb the inconvenience for something I didn’t do wrong.
They offered to comp a sauce on a future visit, but that misses the point. Our meal that night was incomplete, and mistakes should be fixed when they happen. With so many food options nearby, this location clearly doesn’t prioritize customer service. If they can’t get the small things right, it doesn’t inspire confidence in how they handle bigger issues. Check your order carefully, or spend your money elsewhere.
