Would love to review store but they closed 5 min early. Don’t stop if it’s 15 min before 9:00. Apparently this store makes too much money throughout the day

11 Tesla super chargers and what looked like a large gas station turned out to be an amazing smelling bbq place! Only had time for a brisket breakfast taco, but loved this place and we will be coming back!

On 3/25/26 around 1:00 PM, my husband and I visited this restaurant, which we frequent weekly when in town for work. We ordered a brisket sandwich and a loaded brisket potato, only to find both dishes consisted entirely of fat, with no actual meat. This has never happened before but it didn’t feel like a result of oversight—the person slicing the meat clearly knows the difference between fat and meat. This level of quality is unacceptable, and it significantly diminishes our confidence in returning.

Today's visit was sorely disappointing. Ordered the moist brisket, creamed corn, and Rudy's beans (BBQ beans). The service was friendly, for sure. The brisket just missed the mark. The moist brisket is clearly from the brisket point, which I would expect to have a higher fat content, but also be more tender and flavorful. It was anything but. The brisket was not cooked properly to break down the fat or connective tissue. The result was a dry, rubbery consistency which was literally difficult to chew. There was a smoke ring, which yeilded a decent smoke flavor, with a salty rub. Unfortunately, it ate more like an inexpensive piece of boiled brisket. I had hoped for so much more. This is the first time I ever remember discarding 75% of what I ordered at ANY barbecue restaurant. The beans were "ok". I understand that everyone has a different idea of what good barbecue beans are. They had a good robust flavor, with good piece of barbecue meat. So my hat is off to the chef - they had a distinct flavor, even if I thought it was a little unbalanced. That's just a preference. The creamed corn was something I would definitely order again. Huge pieces of corn, with just the right sweet, salty flavor. This was the only thing I ordered that I finished. I admit that I may be a bit spoiled, being from Kansas City. But fundamentals are fundamental...and today, Rudy's failed to meet the most basic of standards for what makes good barbecue.

Birthday Week Rule #1: the celebration officially begins at Rudy’s Country Store and Bar-B-Q. It sets the tone pretty well when you walk in and smell that barbecue… you already know you made the right decision. That smoky brisket aroma hits the air and suddenly whatever plans you had for a “small meal” quietly disappear. Some people start their birthday week with cake. I start mine with barbecue. Rudy’s just understands the assignment. 🔥😎
