  I'm not sure why the restaurant raiting isn’t better than the current 4.1 stars. I really enjoy Mexican food and I've been to many Mexican restaurants in toledo. In my opinion El Vaquero is the best. I brought my family. My wife and two boys. My wife almost always complains about something when I bring her to a Mexican restaurant. Not this time though. Her meal was amazing. She had a shrimp salad. The salad was extremely fresh and the shrimp, cooked to perfection. My youngest son is autistic and he almost never eats at a restaurant due to the crowd. This time however. We had a table outside and he ate everything. My self and my other son had the supreme burrito plate. Chicken was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of spice. Most Mexican restaurants use a canned chicken. Not El Vaquero's. This chicken tastes fresh. I'll definitely be returning. I do however have to mention one bad thing. My fork and my glass was dirty. Luckily we had an amazing waitress who gave me a clean fork and was willing to take my drink off the bill. I still paid for it, but it was nice she was willing to remove it from the bill. So yes. For me. Best Mexican restaurant in toledo.

  My husband and I have been dining at various El Vaqueros for years starting in Columbus. We always loved that we could count on the quality of the food, great atmosphere and expedient excellent service but the last view times we’ve been there it seems to have slipped. The staff is not nearly as friendly and the food is not always on point. Yesterday our order was taken at 4:06 (according to our receipt) and bear in mind the restaurant was not busy. We did not check out until 5:19 and during that time the booths next to us were seated after, got their food before and checked out prior to us. Additionally, our food which was merely beef nachos, ala carte chimichanga and an ala carte enchilada seemed to have been sitting when it was delivered to the table. The chimichanga was soggy and nachos not super hot. No offer of freshening drinks, additional napkins etc. when we walked out the hostess just looked at us… no goodbye. Truly disappointing as this was always one of our favorites spots.
