I try acme every so often since they (redid it). It's depressing to shop here. It's dark, not shopper friendly and now they don't have anyone to help with the bagging. It's no cheaper than Meijer. I told someone in customer service that I needed help and she told me there's no baggers anymore. I told her I wouldn't be back and she said no big deal. WOW, I can't believe your customers are treated like this
Let me start by saying the recent remodel was a huge mistake — the store looks ugly now, and I much preferred how it was before.
Acme Fresh Market uses deceptive pricing tricks that punish customers who don't have a membership card. You're honestly better off shopping at Meijer, even if you don't have their membership — they actually respect your time and money.
Here's a quick story from my recent visit that shows exactly what I mean:
Imagine you're a regular or new customer who just wants to grab a couple of 2-liter drinks. On the shelf, you see the 2-liters marked at $4 each (they're normally about $2), with a big "Buy One Get One Free" sign. It looks like a great deal, so you grab two thinking you'll pay around $4 total.
At checkout, both get scanned and the total comes to $8. Why? Because the BOGO discount only applies if you scan a membership card. Without it, you're charged the full inflated price on both.
This isn't a real promotion — it's a trick. They artificially raise the normal price to $4 just to create the appearance of a "sale," then only give you the discount if you have the card. If you only want one bottle, you still get hit with the higher $4 price. If you're in a rush or just arent paying attention in the moment), it's easy to miss the fine print and overpay without realizing it. You end up going from planning to spend about $2 on one bottle to accidentally spending $8 on two.
This is classic price anchoring and bait-and-switch tactics combined with a membership penalty. Meijer doesn't pull this. Their shelf prices are straightforward — what you see is what you pay. You don't need a membership card to get the advertised deals, and you can use self-checkout without any hassle. No fake inflated "regular" prices, no hidden conditions, and no forcing you to sign up for a loyalty program just to avoid getting overcharged.
Shame on Acme Fresh Market for going downhill like this after the remodel. Customers deserve honest pricing, not these kinds of manipulative games.
Thank you for reading.
I really like the new remodel. I think that more people would shop at this store if they can get rid of the fish smell. I thought it was a one time thing but every time I stop in it is there. I mentioned it to a worker and they said they have never smelled it I guess nose blind. I shop all of the grocery stores in the area and pricing is a bit high but sales are good.

First visit here. Was not busy at all. I mainly came for the jumbo crab legs that were on sale, but I did not see any in the seafood showcase, plus no one was in seafood department. I was not crazy about the smell of the store soon as I walked in the door. Doubt if I will ever do the bulk of my shopping here. Will probably just come for sale items.

After the construction on the restrooms stinking up whole store and I was gagging, I can no longer enter without reliving the smell. They should have been closed for the construction.
