I ordered online through the app for the first time, excited that the Monopoly game had finally returned! I was only car in the online waiting area. After a bit I checked the app, it said my food was coming soon so I waited. And waited. And waited. Until I could wait no more. After 25-30 minutes I had enough. I went inside, empty. I couldn't get anyone to give me the time of day for 4 or 5 minutes. Finally someone showed up front that could help. But I was told abruptly to hold on a minute. I savored that minute, finally after 5 minutes so one could hear my plea. I told her the app said my order was delivered to my car, but no one had stepped outside for a while so I knew it had to be sitting around somewhere. She searched high, she searched low, but alas, the order was nowhere to be found. A survey was dispatched to the fellow workers. "Did anyone make a double cheeseburger plain". The call went unanswered, a double cheeseburger plain vexed thr staff. "Can I take a picture of your phone" she asked. Odd but I guess since the order disappeared, the ticket in the computer must have been deleted. I allowed her to take a picture of my order but assured her it wasnt complex. 20 piece nugget, double cheeseburger plain, 2 large fries, 1 large diet coke. She said she would get it, then disappeared entirely. I stood and waited, saw order after order filled. Fool, I thought, why did you use the app when the drive thru was moving so quickly. Hungry customer after hungry customer came and went, and yet I stood empty handed. After 15 minutes she reappeared from the back, looked at me with a look of shock that I was still there, and began frantically searching the bagging table. She quickly grabbed a bag, then a coke. Finally, I'm free I thought. I opened the bag to make sure the cheeseburger was plain, and to my surprise I found it was correct, but wait, where were the fires. "Wait!" I cried out. "Hello, excuse me ma'am! Hello!" But it was too late. Back into the back she went. My hopes dashed. I waved frantically to the drive thru crew, but my waves went unanswered. Finally the fry cook saw my waving and came over. "This order was missing 2 large fries" the woman who initially helped me reemerged and apologized, packed up two fresh fries, and sent me on my way. Almost an hour for McDonald's I chuckled, as I headed back to the car. Never again, I thought, all for some Monopoly pieces that will sit, discarded and unused. What a shame.
