Today Tuesday 4-14-2026 I heard from friends that China Bell is closed. An Internet search shows they closed March 31st. News said it was around 38 to 40 years. Another old timer we will miss.

Sorry to see this restaurant close. We always enjoyed our meals here. Carla, the bartender in Hole in One, was the best!
Enjoy your retirement!

Well I came here for my birthday, I asked for the golden crispy shrimp. It had this awful smell like it was burning your nose when smelled. I get this same plate every time and this time it’s terrible. Our server was being disrespectful, walking away from us while telling her our order worst place. I’m glad this place is closed!!
My friend was so excited to visit this restaurant for the first time in years, so admittedly I was prepared to have a pretty stellar time, but it really didn't meet any decent expectations. The food was fairly sub par. I had been excited to see a few dishes that I usually only see at some Chinese restaurants off the beaten path, only to realize it was flavored with ketchup and that, frankly, even the version I make at home is better.
I was also actively belittled by the wait staff in charge of our table, which was a huge bummer. She made some light prodding at my friend, but really hammered it on with me - I have some pretty hard skin but I was definitely uncomfortable. We were genuinely kind and courteous, and in at a not too hateful time, so I really don't know what warranted the treatment. It definitely made for a tense experience.
Honestly the only good takeaway is since I've made this dish several times, I have a good idea on how to doctor up my leftovers to make them taste better, which I intend to do so I can salvage some part of this experience.
There are definitely better Chinese restaurants in the area, especially if you're willing to go a little ways further and into downtown Columbus. I would highly recommend considering one of those locations instead.
