There wasn't enough meat or toppings to balance out the bread. We used to love El Vaquero, but now it is meh.

When I finally received the food, the chicken was so tough that you couldn’t even bite into it. It tasted like it had been pulled out of the freezer and put straight onto the grill. Overall horrible quality. The steak did not taste like steak, but tasted like shrimp as if it had been marinated alongside shrimp? When I brought this issue to the attention of the manager, he argued with me saying it was “one of the freshest orders” he had ever put out. When I asked for a refund he blatantly told me he would not give me the refund, and did so in a very unprofessional manner. He said “yeah, no I’m not going to give you the refund”. He eventually did give me $20 refund, a small fraction of what I paid for a bad order. The refund was not my biggest concern, it was the unprofessional and arrogant attitude of the “manager”. Poor customer service skills. My family and I have been going to this restaurant for over a decade, and I have always enjoyed it without any issue. After this experience, I will never be back. This place has gone way downhill.

They also offer 10% off if you stay at the Pacer Inn which if you get the deluxe rooms they are very clean. This restaurant stands out though as my favorite place to eat in Delaware yet!!!!
- JHJamie HagerOct 27, 20252.0I love giving my honest opinion on places I go to El vaquero was one of my top 3 places I love to go. But this experience just kind of put a bad taste in my mouth. My daughter and I ordered and got our food fast but the lady forgot our sour cream which was no biggie, once we were out of chips and salsa she never asked if we wanted more. Which was no biggie to me. I ordered the steak fajitas got about halfway done and found a hair cooked into my steak and a piece of my green pepper looked rotten and made my food smell rotten 🫢 I had to stop eating cause my stomach started to swirl. I felt kinda like if I would have said something halfway through my meal they would look at me wrong so I just bagged up my food and threw it away once I was home.
