    513 Fence was in the neighborhood building a wood fence, so we stopped in gold star chili to get a quick lunch. As always, quick service and good food for a good price.

    I drove over an hour out of my way to try this location, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the moment I walked in. The restaurant was empty, and the employees were sitting at the counter. As soon as I walked in, one of them (still sitting down) asked, “Can I help you?” I said I was going to use the restroom, and she immediately responded, “We don’t have public restrooms,” without even knowing if I was a paying customer. I explained that I was planning to order food, and only then did she say, “Okay, go ahead.” At that point, I decided not to stay. I just turned around and left — and I’m now happily driving 30 minutes to the next closest Gold Star Chili. It’s unfortunate because I actually planned to feature this location on my TikTok platform, but that kind of attitude turned me away. A simple “Are you dining with us today?” would have gone a long way instead of assuming. Not a great first impression, and I won’t be returning.
