I hate to do this to a Buffalo establishment, but even weeks after my experience, it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
I came in craving the sizzle and savor of a proper steak and ordered the Delmonico. Unfortunately, that decision marked the low point of the evening. The cut itself was cheap and uninspired—a dense block of meat with no marbling, no character, no layers. But the truly unforgivable sin? It arrived barely warm, as if it had been sitting in the kitchen rather than brought straight from the grill.
Perhaps my mistake was sitting at the bar, where food service seemed like an afterthought. It took several minutes just to get a glass of water. After my room-temperature steak was dropped off, I had to wait—and then ask—for a fork and knife, which arrived without a napkin. That, too, required another request.
Like I said, I hate to write this, but it was probably the worst $141 I’ve ever spent at a restaurant (including a Manhattan, a glass of wine, and fries). I’m only sharing this in the hope that they improve—so no one else has to endure the same indignities.

Fantastic place. Great atmosphere and very clean. Service was amazing. My food was ok but everyone else at the table wasn't happy with their food. We got the $110 33oz ribeye and was unedible. Good news is they refunded the whole item. Highly recommend the place. I was pleasantly surprised. I thought it was one of the nicest places ive visited in buffalo.
Honestly I thought it was a little over priced for the quality. Sides were very good, but my meat was ordered medium and was more like med rare. Flavor was basic for the steak. I’d much rather eat at Black and Blue for that price. Spent almost 500$ for 4 people. The steak tasted better reheated in a microwave.
As someone who considers themselves an avid and thoughtful food enthusiast, I feel compelled to share a measured but honest perspective. I have been dining at this restaurant for the better part of ten years. Although I no longer live in Buffalo, I did for many years, and even after moving away I made it a point to return here roughly once a month. That level of consistency speaks volumes about how highly I have always regarded this place.
To be clear, much of what made this restaurant special remains intact. The service is, as always, impeccable attentive, polished, and genuinely hospitable. The beverage program continues to excel as well, with consistently well executed cocktails that reflect care and professionalism.
Where the experience unfortunately falters is the new pizza offering. What was once a twenty dollar pizza has been reduced to an eighteen dollar pizzette that is noticeably and significantly smaller easily fifty percent less than what guests previously received. From both a culinary and value standpoint, this change is difficult to defend. The current pizzette feels misaligned with the price point and, frankly, reads more like an eight dollar item than a near twenty dollar one. It is not just smaller, it feels conceptually compromised.
I understand the strategic reasoning behind opening a dedicated pizza concept next door, but the decision to dilute what was once a strong in house offering is perplexing. I would far rather see a proper pizza brought over from the neighboring shop and served tableside than be presented with what feels like a placeholder version. For a restaurant that has historically shown such confidence in its food, this particular move feels uncharacteristically timid.
Despite this criticism, I still hold this restaurant in high regard and want to see it continue to thrive. My hope is that management reconsiders the direction of the pizza program and realigns it with the level of quality, value, and pride that has kept loyal diners like myself coming back for a decade.
I’ve been a loyal customer of this restaurant for a long time, and I must say, I’m quite disappointed with the recent changes to the menu. The steak skewers and pizza, which were my favorites, have been removed. The pizza was still good for the kids, but the size has significantly decreased. I also used to love the caramelized onions and mushrooms as a side dish, but they’ve been taken off the menu as well. I hope they’ll bring some of these items back soon. Despite these changes, the restaurant remains a great place to eat, and I still enjoy coming here.
