We came here for brunch just now and ordered 2 simple dishes. One sandwich and one burrito. I didn’t know how big the portion was so wanted to wait till the food arrives before deciding if I want to order additional side dishes.
The 2 simple dishes took 40 mins to arrive. During that time, the party next to us had ordered, finished eating and paid. By the time the food finally came after the bartender followed up with the kitchen twice, my mood was beyond spoiled that I just wanted to finish the food and leave. Absolutely had no mood or patience to order any additional dishes and risked waiting for another 40 mins for the food to come
Ps/ the bartender was very apologetic and offered coffee for free, which was appreciated.

I’ve been to this restaurant before and have had decent experiences, but this visit was very disappointing. From the moment we walked in, we were told we only had the table for one hour and that it would be taken back, which immediately made us feel rushed and unwelcome.
The service was very disorganized. A waiter I had never seen before took our drink order, but when I asked for a drink I’ve ordered there many times, she had no idea what I was talking about. I ended up choosing something else, which tasted like water, and had to send it back. After that, multiple random servers kept coming to our table asking if we were ready to order or if we were done, even almost taking my drink before I had finished and this was all before the hour was even up.
I also noticed other tables being treated the same way, so it wasn’t just us. Overall, the experience felt rushed, unappreciated, and chaotic. As someone who has been here before, this was very disappointing, and after this experience, I’m not sure I would return.

I came here once and loved the pancakes. Decided to return for brunch, made reservations for 2, arrived promptly and checked in with the host (brown ponytail and grey sweater) who told us to wait while she sat a few more ahead of us. No problem, its a busy afternoon, we stepped aside to wait. 20 minutes pass and the host continues to check in and seat others, including a walk-in party of two that came after us, with no reservations. It was almost like she was intentionally avoiding us. Each time we tried to make eye contact with her to check on our status, she would grab her iPad and walk away. So so bizarre, have no idea what we did to upset her but after 20 minutes of waiting with no update (despite having made reservations and receiving the "your table is ready" text message notification!) and not being able to even grab her attention to just check in for an update, we just cut our losses and went to Cafe Mogador right around the block. It was a busy afternoon and I wasnt even expecting to be seated right away, understand a hectic rush, but being so blatantly ignored and not even receiving an update set the vibe in such a weird way I didn't feel comfortable staying.
Very strange experience. The food was decent from what i recall from the previous visit but dont think we will be back with service like this.

Great atmosphere, great for dates or friend meet ups… although you’ll be embarrassed by the service (or lack thereof).
Just went to meet up with friends for a bite and drinks. Our server, Dorian, was curt and rude to our entire table and almost had to purposefully be waiting to deliver our drinks to our table as we often would wait 15-20 minutes (2x separate times) for him to return to us with relatively warm drinks (I saw him standing around looking at his phone repeatedly until he noticed me staring at him to bring us the drinks).
Our server, Dorian, also rudely refused to split our check and refused to acknowledge anyone in my group when we walked past him on our way out… and we walked directly behind him.
If that’s the kind of service that Ruby’s provides and tolerates from their workers, then I advise anyone with taste and self respect to avoid this place.

Overall a great night out although the pace at which your table is turned around means it’s probably not the best place for a leisurely dinner. We were in and out within an hour, which for a three course meal is pretty fast.
Apologies for the lack of photos but we were too busy eating. The starters of calamari, truffle fries and salad were tasty and well done. The mains were fabulous. Three of us had pasta, the other had chicken schnitzel with what I would say was some of the smoothest mash potatoes I’ve ever seen!
Everyone was satisfied—me included as I savored my Ruby’s ragu, which was simply delicious.
We all shared a sticky date pudding to finish off. The starter and main servings were all of a good size, so good that no one thought they could manage a full dessert on their own!
So, where did the fifth star go. The one thing that knocked a point off of service was my pet hate, servers removing plates before the whole table has finished a course. The other, we had to ask several times for some additional cheese to top one of the pastas, which left one of our party sitting and watching everyone eat and her food getting cold for some time.
But those two slightly negative comments MUST NOT deter you from enjoying a meal at this great little bistro in Brooklyn. I’d definitely return.
