Service is terrible, slow motion here. Waited 10 minutes for one of 3 workers to appear from the back to help me today. 2 of them arguing about whos doing what. Long hair hanging out of one workers hat. Gross. Food and smoothies are pretty good.

I was hungry and far from home, and foolishly I decided to order a smoothie and a panini combo despite several bad experiences before at various Tropical Smoothie locations. They say there's no fool like an old fool and I must be proof of that adage. But to my surprise not long after I entered the store my Panini was ready. The smoothie on the other hand did not make an appearance for 15, 20 minutes. Such a pity the company not yet mastered the ability of making smoothies in such a timely manner. My sandwich was getting cold, and my stomach was rumbling, so I ate it, slowly not scarfing it down like some animal with deliberate bites counting the minutes pass to scarf it down like a starving beast, taking small deliberate bites. I realized other people were getting their smoothies and I was still waiting like a sucker for mine. Finally, my name was called and someone tossed me a mocha smoothie overflowing with brown liquid from the lid and sliding down the sides of the cup. The clerk, oblivious to the mess scattered chocolate droplets everywhere, including on his fingers. I said nothing as I viewed the drink, the messy counter, and the clerk's chocolatey hands. I gave him my 'what the hell' look and asked for napkins. He smiled and handed me a crumpled few beaming with pride to helpl. The two were barely enough to clean the lid, so I asked for more, this time not so nicely. He gingerly handed me a few more confusion evident in his young face. Wiping the sticky mess from the cup, counter, and my fingers, I did find a bit of cosmic humor in being the customer doing the work of the paid employee. This reminded me why I no longer go to cashiers but prefer self-checkout because at the store, a cashier will inevitably give you a dirty look if you do not pay them immediately after they are done checking you out, instead take that time to bag your groceries into the bags they sell you, bags which were once available for free to all customers before do-gooders in ivory towers decided that paper was bad for the environment. I get at these kids but annoyed, but I have to have enough grace to understand that most people under 35 never experienced a time when when workers treated paying clients with a modicum of consideration rather than indifference or outright disgust. As one does, I muttered to myself about the decline of Western civilization. The young clerk, maybe no more than 20, probably dismissed me as one of those entitled Karens. For too long, Karen has been maligned as a slur, a person who expects an employee to treat a customer with basic civility. I'll take that name as a compliment. This is the third Tropical Smoothie where I received shoddy service and subpar food. Call me a slow learner but I have learned my lesson at last. No more Tropical Smoothie for me.

The smoothies here are decent, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. It feels like this location has been poorly managed for some time, with little organization or efficiency. Ordering ahead for pickup doesn’t save you any time you’ll likely still end up waiting another 20 minutes once you arrive. They may be short-staffed, which is understandable these days, but for smoothies priced this high, you’d expect at least prompt and attentive service. Unfortunately, that’s not what you’ll find at this.
