  Delicious Mexican cuisine, high end traditional. Loved the mole. The drinks are exceptional—try the bar!

  Let me start this review by saying I rarely ever give any place a bad reviews since I understand sometimes things happen and we are all human. Now with that being said let me tell you about the great things about this place. Our server was amazing. He was polite and attentive, warm and inviting. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the younger hostess was charming & polite. The drinks were strong and large. The portions of the food were also large (given the price). The appetizer was the best part of my meal. That’s where it ends. The not so good aspects that sincerely ruined the experience and made me give it a hard 1 star. We had a reservation and arrived on time and before we were even seated, the older hostess who seemed annoyed when we walked in, said something flippant in spanish that felt directed at us. Let me be clear - Im Latina and speak the language so I caught the remark. Then when she took us to our table, it was a very small/narrow table at the front of the entrance of the kitchen. I then mentioned that table was tight and asked to be seated at another table and without letting me finish my sentence, she interrupted and said “no, the larger tables are reserved for larger parties”. I immediately looked around the restaurant and saw at least 4 empty 2 person tables. My response to her was ok. My husband is 6’2 and had to keep his arms tucked in the entire time since bus boys and waiters were running back and forth around him. Again I understand things happens but the lack of simple accommodation seemed a little off to me. Now the other little things that just added to the poor experience, we had to ask for water 2x. We didn’t get water until after our appetizer got to the table. The food was bland and both of my tacos were cold when they came out. All of this combined made me and my husband not finish our food and leave after 30 mins (that right we arrived at 6:30 and were out the door by 7:02) even our server knew something was wrong that he asked us if we were good. We didn’t have the energy to get into it b/c we just wanted to leave (again he was amazing) I’m really glad other people love this place and it’s a shame we didn’t have a better experience. I was so excited to try it considered I live 5 mins away from here, but this will by my first and only time there. I wish them wonderful success.

  My husband and I decided at the last minute to go out to dinner with our two young children and find out the gender of our anticipated third child. We called Ixchel around 3:00 for a 5:15 reservation and asked if they’d be able to do a special dessert for us to reveal the gender. They said of course but we had no idea that they were going to be so enthusiastic about it! We arrived two hours later and there were boy/girl BALLOONS waiting for us at our table! We were so touched! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. Then came the special dessert - the whole staff came out with a beautifully decorated blue and pink tres leche cake, they had sparklers and everything. Ixchel made this special moment so incredible for us and we will always remember this night for the rest of our lives. We are so glad that we chose Ixchel and highly recommend this restaurant! We felt like family and are so grateful!!
