Upon opening my takeout order, I was met with the unmistakable presence of a fly resting on my food. This was not a case of poor seasoning or presentation but a clear lapse in basic hygiene. The discovery raises serious questions about food safety and cleanliness standards in the kitchen. When I contacted the restaurant, the response was dismissive and devoid of concern or accountability (no manager on site). Dining establishments bear a fundamental responsibility to ensure that what leaves their kitchen is safe to consume. In this instance, Village Idiot failed completely. I would strongly advise others to consider alternative restaurants in Patchogue where food integrity and customer care are taken seriously. RESPONSE TO OWNER: I called immediately and was told a manager was not in and that one would call me back. No one called back. Filled out an inquiry and a manager named Nicholas emailed me after but that’s about it. I had a good inspector pay the restaurant a visit.
