  Celebrating our 24th anniversary in NYC, we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect start to our special week than at this restaurant. The genuine hospitality from the entire team — especially Chris the manager and Francisco the bartender — made the night unforgettable. From the flawless Maine Lobster Scampi and Bone-in Wagyu NY Strip to the Creamed Corn Pot Pie and the outstanding Banana Dessert Francisco suggested, everything was a 10/10. Cool speakeasy atmosphere, next-level cocktails, and impeccable service — highly recommended

  So lucky 🙏🏼 to have sat at the Hemingway table. The restaurant finishings were gorgeous, staying true to a speakeasy atmosphere that is elegant, quiet, luxurious but also decadent. I felt transported to the Prohibition era. The food is phenomenal, as were the drinks. I would love to be back, reservation willing. Appreciate all the help from Jermaine and Christopher. It was a lovely experience. Must gets: smoked martini, the croquettes, cheesesteak. I would love to try all the other dishes / drinks. I will be back!

  Absolutely incredible experience at The Eighty Six! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, stylish, and welcoming. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what they do, which made the whole evening feel special. The food was nothing short of outstanding—each dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. You can really tell that high-quality ingredients and creativity are at the heart of the menu.   The Eighty Six offers a fun and energetic atmosphere that immediately feels welcoming. The cocktails are creative and well-balanced, and the small plates are flavorful and satisfying.   This is an Instagram sensation in a nutshell - the exclusivity of the reservations has made it a status symbol, but it doesn’t come close to an exclusive experience. First - the rules on the website are not real. The woman next to me had on sweatpants and sneakers; multiple instances of sneakers (and not the finance bro white ones). Also the use of flash photography for both photos and videos was not only allowed, it was nearly encouraged when used as servers were placing dishes. Secondly - we had a reservation for 4p at the bar and got there at 3:50. There was a photo shoot happening for Bon Apetit so we weren’t brought in until about 4:10…and the chaos of the photo shoot was in full display. At the bar the power had gone out (breaker was flipped) so chaos there as well. The experience never recovered. The couple next to us had an issue w their salad (unclear if it was an ignored dietary restriction or unidentified object) but the wait staff were super apologetic noting they actually had the chance to scold the kitchen for once. Service was…standard. We are definitely used to sitting at a bar and having the opportunity for increased interactions w the staff, but the bartender was behind on drink orders and didn’t attempt small talk until our entrees were cleared. Empty drink glasses sat in front of us from mid entree until we left. Overall it felt like an inexperienced wait staff in an unknown space. I do have to say that the food was good - not great - but good. We skipped dessert opting to go somewhere else. As we were waiting for our coats the floor manager (I think) actually asked “did things calm down in there?” and when I said no she mentioned the photo shoot. That sums up the customer experience. The space is pretty, the bathrooms are really pretty, the experience and “rules” are lame. Stick w true NYC classics where you get the food and experience for your money.
