Nestled in the heart of New York City’s historic Little Italy, Il Cortile stands as one of the neighborhood’s most enduring and distinguished dining destinations. From the moment guests step inside, they are greeted by a warm and inviting ambiance: soft lighting, rich textures, lush greenery, and a layout that seamlessly blends classic charm with a polished, contemporary elegance. Il Cortile’s signature garden room—bright, airy, and filled with natural elements—offers a serene escape from the busy streets of Manhattan, while its intimate lounges and private dining rooms provide settings perfectly suited for celebrations, corporate events, and unforgettable gatherings.
At the heart of Il Cortile is its exceptional culinary program, offering a menu that honors traditional Italian flavors while embracing modern technique and presentation. The kitchen emphasizes fresh, high-quality ingredients, including house-made pastas, premium meats and seafood, and seasonal produce sourced from local markets. Signature dishes, celebrated for their depth of flavor and meticulous preparation, showcase the restaurant’s dedication to authenticity and craftsmanship.
Tucked away in Little Italy, Il Cortile came highly recommended and it absolutely delivered. I was looking for something classic and old-school to enjoy with a friend from Long Island, and this place nailed the vibe.
The real standout is the courtyard in the back. It’s a quiet, charming escape from the chaos of the surrounding streets, and it instantly elevates the whole experience.
The food was outstanding. I went with the chicken parm, and it was perfectly cooked, flavorful, and satisfying. Service was equally impressive: attentive, genuinely friendly, and not overbearing or rushed.
Great atmosphere, excellent food, and that rare “hidden gem” feeling in a neighborhood that’s anything but hidden. I’ll definitely be back.

Short story: YES. Do it. From a New Yorker.
Long story: New Yorkers will tell you don't eat in Little Italy - it's a tourist trap. And while I do agree, I was here, hungry, and with my dog so needed outdoor seating.
I did a little research and other New Yorkers recommended this restaurant. Thank you to them cause the food was really good, bordering on excellent. AND my server knew the menu like the back of his hand so really helped me pick what to eat.
I started with the stuffed shrimp then had the rigatoni with prosciutto and mozzarella. It was all very good and now I know if I'm ever stuck in Little Italy, this is the place to go.

Amazing food! Amazing service! Joseph our waiter was the best! He was great with my gluten free allergy! Took very great care with all of us! They can replace any pasta with Gluten free options! Very clean! Loved the host! Very welcoming! Highly recommend!

Had a wonderful Easter dinner of Asiago stuffed mushrooms and Chicken Scarpariello (roast chicken, sweet sausage, potatoes, mushrooms and herbs finished with white wine).
The ambiance is lovely. There are marble statues representing the four seasons and a stunning atrium.
But the best part of Il Cortile is the staff, astute, pleasant and catering to your every wish.
I even saw some Easter bunnies there ....

No reservation, amazing service, we were in a hurry and they were perfect, served us in 10 min and kept the professional service. Great food and the staff was amazingly kind. They did all the favors we asked, we are very happy. Francisco and Ariel were the best servers.
