I’ve been to many steakhouses in NYC but Hawksmoor definitely takes the case for one my favorite if not best experiences. The food was absolutely amazing, there was nothing I could ever second guess in terms of taste, absolutely stupendous dining experience. Eddie was responsible for my table and he certainly made it an experience to remember, checked on us periodically and made sure everything was to our liking and provided exceptional service. The food? From the salad, to the steak to the abundance of sides, everything was exceptional. I will definitely be back. Thank you to the staff, keep up the phenomenal job.

Another NYC restaurant with a very nice interior, which is always a great advantage of a delicious meal. The food was excellent, especially the brilliantly prepared Porterhouse, which was perfectly medium rare on both sides. We'll remember its taste for a long time. The only thing we didn't like was the rather casual atmosphere. The service was pleasant, but at these prices, the standard should have been much higher.
We recently dined at Hawksmoor NYC to celebrate my daughter and her dog’s birthday, and it turned into a really memorable evening.
We started with oysters—fresh and clean. We shared 1–2 large steaks, which were well-cooked and great for the table. The scallops were a standout—tender and full of flavor. We also ordered a few sides that complemented everything nicely, and finished with dessert. Cocktails were excellent across the board—every one we tried was well balanced.
Service was also a highlight. Our waiter, Evan, could speak Mandarin, which made the experience even more welcoming and personal.
Overall, a great spot for celebrations or a nice night out—beautiful space, solid food, and thoughtful service.

We stopped in for a late lunch on a Wednesday, and the restaurant was practically empty. They do close from 3–5 PM to prepare for dinner service.
Despite the quiet afternoon, we had a great meal. Our server, Ornela, was wonderful—efficient, friendly, and truly went above and beyond. She was warm and funny, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
We ordered the two-course prix fixe lunch. One of us chose the Hawksmoor Caesar salad and the notorious BEEF burger. Unfortunately, the Caesar salad was a bit underwhelming, and while the burger itself was well made and cooked properly, it was noticeably over-seasoned.
Another order included the potted beef & bacon Yorkshires with onion gravy, followed by steak frites. The Yorkshires were delicious, and the steak was cooked to a perfect medium-rare. The fries were excellent as well.
I ordered the ash-baked beets along with steak frites. The beets were very tasty, and the combination with the fennel and horseradish worked well, though it somehow didn’t quite feel like a home run. My steak, however, was cooked to a perfect rare, seasoned beautifully, and again the fries were great.
We were also pleasantly surprised when they brought out a complimentary meringue and watermelon granita for dessert, which was light and refreshing.
Overall, while a few dishes had their ups and downs, the steaks were cooked and seasoned perfectly, great company, and Ornela’s wonderful personality truly elevated the entire experience. I can’t wait to go back!
We were blown away. We were in New York to board a cruise and thought we’d use my credit card dining credit at a really nice restaurant. It was a smashing success (nod to the English heritage).
We started with cocktails - a lovely Rosé, a lively and tart-sweet Five Alive and a robust thick Full Fat Old Fashioned. The Bandol Rosé was crisp and light. The Five Alive was full of Yuzu Tartness and and Pineapple sweetness. Perfect balance. The Old Fashioned was thick, with almost pulpy texture. I didn’t really taste the Brown Butter, but it was good.
We ordered the sourdough bread for the table, which was airy and crusty as you would expect. Nice sourdough flavor.
For appetizers, we got the Baby Lettuce and Herb Salad and a Ceasar. The baby lettuce was simple but elegant- you could taste the herbs and it was paired with a calm vinaigrette which complemented it nicely. The Caesar was full of grated Parmesan and the croutons were homemade and crunchy. They dressing was tangy but didn’t overwhelm.
As entreés, two of us had the Charcoal Roasted Scallop Appetizer and we shared the 12 oz filet. The Scallops were large and perfectly prepared in a crunchy Garlic brown butter sort of way. That garlic butter was the hit of the meal - we put it on everything we could find! The filet was perfectly done medium rare, with the right amount of seasoning- really outstanding piece of meat. We also ordered the Mac and Cheese side, which was one of the best ever!
We “had” to share a dessert so we opted for the Sticky Toffee Pudding. THE BEST EVER! Sticky, Toffee, ice cream (although we could have used twice as much ice cream) - we would have licked the plate if it wasn’t such a nice restaurant!
Róisín, our fantastic, sweet, efficient, amazing server also gave us a complementary Rhubarb Pavlova which was tart and sweet with crusty and pillowy Pavlova. It actually combined really well with a bite of the toffee!
Everything about the meal, service, historic atmosphere was spot on. Could not ask for a better experience!
