  Not very inviting.. understand why there’s not much business unless there was no other choice but to study there since there is a lot of seatings

  I've been coming here for many years. One of my favorite places for acai bowls, bagels, and coffee - but mostly the acai bowls because they're delicious here. It's always a nice environment to open up a laptop and chill - also a great atmosphere to hang out with a friend and chill. Many others do the same. This place has the best coffee shop vibes.

  The Monday manager had ruined this spot for us. It used to be a nice place to come. We have a group that comes every Monday and buys drinks and food — every week for literally years — and we get yelled at because one person in our group drinks a drink that isn’t from this cafe. She also had already bought food from them, just by the way! And the manager was too busy listening to podcasts to take her order, she had to ask him five times, but he has time to yell at her and call her disrespectful for drinking something not from this cafe while eating food she bought from this place. They also let this knitting group into the back tables but when we’ve asked to use the back tables he says that nobody is allowed back there for safety reasons — which is obviously a lie because he lets the knitters sit there. We are taking our business elsewhere as soon as possible. The Monday manger had been nothing but rude to us for a while now. We routinely bring new customers to this cafe and support this business. We don’t complain about the low quality of the food and drinks because we appreciate the space. You should not rudely yell at your regular and loyal customers. They couldn’t even ask us nicely to put the one outside drink (in a group of six) away, but had to yell rudely at us. So congrats on driving away your regulars! Hope it is worth it.

  Beware : I’ve been noticing these Bean locations in NY does not allow their hardworking employees to keep their TIPS (when you pay with card ) I personally find this horrifying and disturbing for all the hard working employees that represent The Bean . So just a heads up to all tippers out there , the employees do not receive tips of it’s not in cash . ( I wonder who gets to keep it all ? ) Shame shame , please do better The Bean

  The coffee is awful and thin. The acai bowls are great at the broadway location, but the ones at Astor place are terrible. The acai is grainy to the point that it feels like chewing on eggshells, and it is super liquidy. Furthermore, I was charged extra for a substitution- that is, taking soemthing out and putting in something else instead, which is something I found to be ridiculous. On top of that, the acai bowl was just embracing. My server threw maybe 5 blueberries and a couple spoiled strawberries on top and called it a day. My server wasn't great either- he was unwilling to make accommodations, was rude, and was overall unpleasant
