Strip House Speakeasy is located in the space next to the original Strip House in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village. Set in glamorous backdrop of the Roaring Twenties & Prohibition Era,
11 East 12th Street was one of the thousands of illegal speakeasies
supplying NYC with Libations & Liberation. Its hidden connection to
the room above - 13 East 12th Street - helped spark its success for
when officers arrived with a search warrant in hand, they were only
able to gain entrance to the physical address listed - ‘13 East’...not ‘11’.
Dry aged New York strip was $78, but it was not worth that value. Inside was more rarer that our requested medium. Cream spinach was the best thing, it was rich and flavorful. The ‘1000 layer potato’ was disappointing for its price, as the potatos were just slightly crispy on the outside and not that soft inside.
The decision making of seating could have been better. We had reserved in advance, yet our 2 party group was seated less than a foot away from an extremely loud 15 people group. We followed what seating they recommended, but it ruined the experience a bit.
It is hard to say that I would come again.

I’ve been on the hunt for a great burger in NYC and a foodie friend told me to check out Strip House Speakeasy. From the moment I walked in, I knew this wasn’t your typical hidden speakeasy. It’s more open, energetic, and lively, which I loved. No secret door or mystery to get in, just good vibes, great lighting, and a space that feels both elevated and welcoming.
For drinks, I tried the Wendy Bird and the Kiss Kiss. Both were great, but the Kiss Kiss stood out with its creative glassware. The glass and saucer were shaped like faces, and when placed together, they looked like they were kissing. For appetizers, we had the cornbread with three unique butters, one topped with caviar, and another appetizer that was served inside a bird cage. It came as a three-tiered tower with fries on top, sauces in the middle, and chicken nuggets on the bottom. Such a fun concept. For the main course, we had the Reuben Burger, which had nice flavor from the Reuben-style seasoning. The best part, though, was the price point. Even though this restaurant isn’t super cheap or overly expensive, the burger was priced around $21, and it’s no skimpy burger. It’s huge and packed with flavor. It came with chips, and we added drunken mushrooms and creamed spinach on the side—both solid choices. Even though we were full, we couldn’t skip dessert. Their soft serve ice cream was too good to pass up and worth every bite.
The service really stood out. Everyone was warm and attentive, and we met one of the owners, Courtney, who made sure we were taken care of. That kind of genuine hospitality is rare and makes all the difference. I’d definitely come back to check out the main restaurant next time.

I plan to keep coming back because the consistency here is impressive. The personnel adjusted to our requests and delivered quality service. Their food quality remains consistently outstanding. My friends made this visit worthwhile, and the restaurant staff was accommodating. This place charges fairly for its quality.
