Family owned and operated since 1971, Mamoun’s Falafel has been serving high quality Middle Eastern food for decades. Our philosophy is simple: To serve fresh, authentic Middle Eastern cuisine in a fast casual environment. Everything we serve is made from scratch using only the freshest natural ingredients, the finest imported spices, and our signature recipes. These values, together with our rich tradition and commitment to excellence, have distinguished Mamoun’s as a premier falafel restaurant. Whether it’s the tiny “hole in the wall” charm, the high energy of our customers and staff, or the flavorful menu, going to Mamoun’s for falafel, shawarma, and kebobs can transform an ordinary meal into a unique dining experience.
Mixed reviews on food quality; some praised the falafel and shawarma, while others reported cold or poorly assembled dishes.
Service
Service quality varied; some customers appreciated the quick and friendly service, while others experienced rude staff and order mix-ups.
Value
Many customers found the prices fair and appreciated the portion sizes, though some felt the value has declined over time.
Atmosphere
The restaurant has a casual vibe with both indoor and outdoor seating, but some noted it can be noisy and crowded.

I have been coming to Mamoun’s for over 20 years but will not be returning to this location after my visit last week Thursday (1/1). I usually have no issues when I order the chicken kebab plate, but this time I received a very small portion of shriveled up chicken. I tried to take a bite out of it and realized it was completely inedible. I went back to the counter and before I could even ask anything the employee behind the counter rolled his eyes at me. I ignored his sour attitude and kindly asked if they could replaced the chicken because it was too dry. The guy rolled his eyes at me again and sighed before telling me they can’t do anything about it (which was not true). He did not even ask the kitchen staff before making this claim. I made it clear that I would be willing to wait if there is no more chicken, but I would like to know if there is actually no more chicken because he didn’t go back to check. He then gave me a really hard time. I don’t think I should have been berated for requesting edible food. At a certain point, I guess he decided it was easier to do his job than continue speaking with me, but he snatched the food out of my hand and put it on the counter. I really don’t think it is normal for employees to behave like that. I was polite and understanding despite his inappropriate level of agitation. I do not know why he was so rude to me. For context the place was almost completely empty. There was the only one other customer in the establishment when I was there on 1/1/26 around 4:15pm. I interacted with the Hispanic man at the front counter.

Visited last weekend. Food was okay but nothing special sadly. I was the only customer eating in. Staff looked fed up and disinterested however on the plus side food arrived quickly. Wouldn't recommend.

One of the best bang for your buck eats out there in NYC.
The veg platter comes with 3 falafel balls so we added 2 adding to make it 9 balls total, got sauces on side and extra pita bread to make it a full meal for 2 people all under $20. The platter comes with enough hummus, baba ganoush, tahini and salad to make atleast 3 full pita sandwiches on your own.
Quick service, helpful staff that give you water when needed and more sauce if needed as well.
Downside? Food here doesn’t look pretty. That’s it. This is our personal favorite Mediterranean meal anywhere in the US when we want the best and freshest flavors without spending too much. Even the fancy looking Mediterranean spots can’t match the flavors here especially their falafels.
