  I’m interested to know the bar’s view on what’s an acceptable tip when ordering drinks at the bar (i.e. no table service), as we were accosted on exit for ‘only’ leaving $13 for 13 drinks on the check (and 20% for the one item of food delivered to the table). Sour end to the visit. It’s a shame, as otherwise it’s a great bar.

  I got to the bar before my friend and ordered a soda. I can’t have alcohol right now for personal reasons anyway, but my friend drinks. My friend ran 20 minutes late. While I waited, I drank the soda and browsed my phone, (there were open seats as well, I wasn’t keeping people from getting served) then a couple other patrons sitting right beside me started making fun of me to the bartender for ordering a soda and using my phone. They said, “don’t you hate it when people do that? Just go to a library, why are you here? The worst! Etc etc”He agreed and joked with them. I know for sure they were talking about me because I ended up glaring and one of the guys said sorry. I was minding my own business. I’d have left except for my friend. It was a shocking experience. Very unprofessional and antagonistic of the bartender as well. Weird and off putting, will not return and will recommend my friends to avoid in future.

  a nice upper west side bar for beer geeks, free popcorn and good service. One of the best Guiness pints i've had in the city.
