First of all, live music scene has always been good here. However, we have never encountered such terrible service experience at any restaurant across the globe that treating paying customers this way.
We were told to either sit at the bar and order dinner or wait for 1 hour. So, we decided to choose the bar option. We ordered 5 dishes and drinks. The food took almost 40 mins to come to the bar. We didn’t say anything thinking it’s Labour Day weekend and keep a smiley faces until the end.
Unfortunately, we have just finished our second dish and ordered 3rd drink, the big fat guy came at us and asked us to get up to finish our drinks because his friends are behind the bar ( he’s asked us TWICE not once) emphasising that his good paying customers are standing behind us. Then WHO ARE WE ??!!
Meanwhile, we have just got our 3rd drinks served on the counter.
The second time , this person introduced himself as George , the executive chef and asked if we knew his acquaintances. And we said “NO” and “ STOP HARASSING US”!
We were in shock as he’s not only unappreciated our business, but also very rude as he kept coming twice to ask us to take our drinks and stand up to drinks so his friends can sit down at the bar counter.
This restaurant has a large capacity both indoor and outdoor. We still cannot phantom what George was trying to tell to the bar scene here. There were lots of individuals who were only there for a beer , he didn’t approach them but he chose the couple who are paying more than $200+ for their dinner and have just ordered their 3rd drink to stand up so his friends could sit down and order food !!???
This is absolutely not a recommended place for dinner, especially if you were advised to sit at the bar counter.
Personally speaking, your money is definitely appreciated somewhere else without being harassed this way.

I know the person who is supposed to check where people are at with their meals was doing her job. But the amounts of laps she was doing felt like it was a bit rushed

Great food, lots of options. Good place to eat with the family. Right on the water so there is a nice view of the marina. Little area out back to play corn hole.

I’ve been a chef for over 30 years and have made thousands of sushi rolls—what I was served at West Lake Fish was all panko, with barely any trace of scallop. When I politely brought it to our server Kelly’s attention, her response was dismissive and condescending: “Scallop is a fine fish—you just don’t see it mixed in with the panko.” That is not how you handle a guest’s concern.
We were a group of four and noticed that gratuity had been added to our bill. We went to speak with the manager to clarify, and instead of addressing it professionally, he questioned the generous tip we had left—which felt completely inappropriate. Even with the poor service, we still tipped Kelly well.
My wife and I both felt strongly enough to leave reviews because we truly hope both the server and manager take this as an opportunity to improve. We’ve worked in hospitality for decades, and this level of service was disappointing. We won’t be back, but we hope others are treated with more care in the future.
