A great experience! The location is unusual. It's inside a commercial building, and my friend and I were the only two people in Omakase Osukaa (and maybe the building) when we sat down late on a Wednesday night. He was a bit unsettled by that but I encouraged him to stay. The slight awkwardness of being the only two people inside this restaurant was quickly melted away by the engaging and polite conversation from the staff. We had a great time drinking sake and asking them various questions on Japanese food and culture. I found the price reasonable for the quality of fish we ate. Every piece tasted fresh and flavorful and we ended up continuing to order from the a la carte menu after the Omakase course was exhausted. Believe it or not, my absolute favorite thing I had that night was the fish broth. Every sip felt like a warm embrace. I know it sounds silly to say the broth was my favorite thing, but that's more a testament to the quality of the broth rather than an indictment of the quality of the fish. All of the fish was perfect. The standouts for me were the unagi, the hotate, the botan ebi, the chutoro, and the uni. All fresh and beautifully balanced. My only complaint was the texture of the rice; some of the grains had a bit of a hard center I would bite into every once in a while. This didn't detract much from my experience as the fish was so delicious and the staff so fun, but it was a little distracting. It didn't happen in every piece and we were the last people there before they closed for the night so I can understand receiving the last of the day's batch. Overall I recommend Omakase Osukaa and I plan to return next time I'm in the area!

I chose this restaurant because of generally good Google reviews but I found my experience more in a line with a recent, more negative review. I’m sure for Omakase this is a good value, but for $300 there are so many great options in LIC and Astoria that give you much more. I hope they find their way again.

Fantastic restaurant, great food! But alas! It's no longer open for lunch! This happened just recently. It doesn't open until suppertime. What a loss, because there are no decent lunch spots here in L.I.C. Incredible food, especially the eel. And it isn't expensive, either.

Appetizer was just okay. Sushi was below average. I expected it to be better with its high rating. The sushi rice was sticky and soft, and didn’t have any taste of the vinegar. There was a few flies flying around the whole time and at the end landed on the serving plate after finishing the last piece of sushi :’( Told the server about it but they didn’t do anything. I would not recommend this place and hope that they could improve.

Delicious sushi spot! The rice was perfect, just the right temperature and acidity and every piece was super fresh and balanced. The 15-piece omakase was $90, which is very fair. Chef Mark (formerly of Gaijin and Kissaki) really knows his craft. Instead of the usual miso soup they served a flavorful fish broth soup, such a nice change! They also have a great selection of beer and sake. Relaxed vibe, great service, and delicious sushi. Can’t wait to go back! 🍣🍶
