  We went on Friday 2/20 originally for a nice, quiet dinner. We got to the restaurant around 10:30p to booming not realizing that it was late night hours and the main kitchen was closed. We still stayed for the late night menu for some drinks, a meet/cheese board & a pizza which were good. One of the selling points that got us to stay was the random DJ that had everyone from our side of the restaurant vibing to his mixing. If any of the staff from Novita reads this, can you respond with the name of the DJ that was playing that Friday 2/20? he was really good hahahaha

  We went to Novitá in Garden City for date night and had a really nice experience overall. The baked clams were okay and the meatballs were good but not amazing, while the pappardelle with lobster and the pan-seared scallops specials were both solid dishes with quality ingredients and beautiful presentation. The service was attentive and professional, and the modern Italian atmosphere makes Novitá a great spot in Garden City for a date night or special evening out.

  We were greeted very professionally upon arrival. We ordered several appetizers, including the salumi. It was surprising that no bread was initially offered to accompany it; however, the server was very nice and went to the kitchen to find some for us. For entrées, I ordered both the seafood pasta with black linguine and the ragu pasta. Both dishes arrived very quickly. (most likely pre cooked)The seafood pasta was cooked properly, but the other components lacked seasoning, and the octopus was tough. ⸻

  Completely disappointed with the experience. Arrived under a reservation and after being seated for 10 minutes decided to flag down a waiter and see if we could order. The waiter did not say a word and walked away. We waited another 10 minutes and every waiter in the establishment walked past us without saying a word. The only thing we got to eat since no one ever came to take our order, was the table-side bread, which was stale. I do not recommend if you care about the service you’re receiving. At least we didn’t waste a dollar here.

  Genuinely appalled by the lack of service we received visiting this restaurant. I made a reservation for two a few days before, called to confirm that we would be there (albeit running a bit late) and upon being seated, we were never served whatsoever until we had to get up and leave. When I say “served”, I mean not one waiter came to our table for over 25 minutes. I attempted to flag down a waiter, another waiter was putting out candles, and I even asked a waiter if we could order and he did not acknowledge me. He just walked away from me without saying a word, and no one ever came to take our order even after I explicitly asked. The restaurant was fairly empty, I must have seen four different waiters pass my table and make eye contact and still leave us be. Two waiters even walked to the bar and began checking the NFL game out while we were still waiting to be spoken to by anyone in the establishment. If you check my profile, you will see I do not write many reviews, and I really don’t care to make a deal of something small. However, 25 minutes and a request to be served that is followed by absolutely nothing is honestly disrespectful in a way that has both of us feeling alienated, especially as POC. I’m not sure how a restaurant could ever explain such service, but I would highly recommend finding another place to eat if you’re considering coming here, unless you are in the mood to advocate for yourself just to get some appetizers. REPLY TO OWNER: No customer would ever be able to flag down a manager if they cannot even get a waiter to speak to them or dignify them with a response. The automated message to these reviews speaks volumes.
