If you are a Black person wanting to dine at this restaurant please be aware of the risk of discrimination and harassment you might face. My mother and her friend got the NYPD called on them after they innocently pointed out there was three buckets of beer on their bill when they only ordered two. My mother and her friend told the waitress (Carla R.), a lady manager in a green shirt, and the bouncer to check the cameras and they refused. The Sangria Cafe staff charged my mother an accurate bill of $165 and called the police as they still would not accept they charged an extra bucket of beer my mother and her friend did not order nor consume. To make matters worst the waitress took back 4/5 beers remaining in the bucket in which my mother paid for. The NYPD were more understanding and accommodating than the Sangria Cafe staff as they comforted my sobbing mother who was deeply embarrassed by the situation. Then the owner had the audacity to respond to my mother’s friend alerting the public to her experience by saying they were getting physically aggressive with staff, had no paid items wrongfully taken back, and she was publicly lying on their business. The physical aggression was a blatant lie. At no point did my mother and her friend get physical with anyone as even when the police was called, the bill was already paid and they were allowed to leave. If you have been here before you know the music is loud which made my mother and her friend have to speak up. At most that is the only “aggression” the owner could be referencing but by the owner’s response you would think my mother and her friend physically assaulted the staff. The owners response made me think this was an act of racial discrimination as they called the police over a $30 charge that was wrongfully put on an already $130 bill with 18% automatic gratuity that my mother was more than willing to pay. The owner is lying and claiming physical aggression when there was nothing of the sort and the police altercation ended with the police comforting my mother and her friend for standing up for themselves. And to make matters worse, they took back 4/5 beers in the second, which was the last, bucket of beer my mother ordered. They are racist and dishonest here, there are better drinks and food elsewhere. Be the change you want to see in the world and do not give places like this your money.

Thursday, April 9 a friend and I went to sangria’s in Bartow For happy hour. We ordered four cocktails and two buckets of beer when we got the bill the waitress charged us for three buckets instead of two, and when we complained and asked them to look at the cameras, no one helped us. In the end, they took back four beers from the second bucket that was already paid for. I will never go to this café again. Sangria in co-op city. We were willing to pay for what we ordered. They proceeded to call the police. We were so embarrassed. I don’t recommend this place to no one. Both photos that I posted of the buckets of beer were both ordered at two different the waitress was very unprofessional and nasty and she didn’t even want to say she made a mistake.

I did not like how the manager did not cater to the guests. I was there celebrating a birthday in the party room, and my party and I were ignored for 30 minutes. The speakers in the party room were extremely loud, and we couldn't hear the DJ!! I acknowledged that to the server, and they didn't do anything about it and we still couldn't hear the DJ a whole hour later!!!!

I wanted to take the time to write this because while people are quick to complain, we hardly ever take the moment to review truly great service. Our brunch at Sangria Cafe was absolutely incredible—the food was amazing, the value was good, and we left feeling completely overwhelmed by the hospitality.
The staff here is next-level. It wasn't just our assigned server; the entire staff was super attentive. Even the team members who weren’t our primary servers were constantly checking in to see how we were doing.
I want to give a massive shout-out to Claritza, who was beyond helpful. Even though she wasn't our main server, she was constantly at our table making sure we were taken care of—getting us extra ice, keeping us stocked with napkins, and checking in repeatedly to make sure we didn't need a thing. Her hustle and attention to detail were so impressive.
A few other special thank-yous:
• Karen, our server, was fantastic and kept everything moving perfectly.
• Brian, who really stood out by always making sure we had absolutely everything we needed.
• Chantel, the promoter, who was walking around with the DJ taking music requests.
It meant the world to us when they played The Beatles for my brother, who has special needs. That kind of kindness and inclusive atmosphere is rare to find.
If you’re looking for a spot in the Bronx with a great vibe, top-tier food, and a staff that actually cares about your experience, this is it. Thank you, Sangria Cafe, for a wonderful Saturday
If you want to be fake "trendy" and overspend to front for your date, it's a good place to be. Nice atmosphere, but when a Jack & ginger ale is $20, and comes in like a 6oz glass full of ice, well, you be the judge...
