Had a fun idea to try a swath of Hannaford bakery items for my Friday dessert treat, so I stopped in to my local chain location to pick up an armful of sweets. Pumpkin whoopie pie with "cream cheese icing", lemon burst cake and strawberry square cake, pumpkin cheese cake, tres leche flavored round cake, big ol frosted cupcake, and plenty more. After sampling my fair share of them I came to the conclusion, that they were all a tad bit on the stale side in varying degrees of freshness. Also, some of the frosting and icings were off tasting, very chemically created with no human element. Worst offender being the whoopie pie, ugh, that thing was stale, with zero pumpkin spiciness, and the icing they used was atrocious. Really should have stuck to cream cheese frosting, why the heck they went with icing is beyond me. Yuck. I hope the remaining desserts, the muffins and cannolis are better, but I don't have much hope.
