  I recently visited Toucan Charlie's Buffet & Grille, and it turned out to be one of the more impressive buffet experiences I’ve had in Reno. Located inside the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, the restaurant is known locally for offering a large and diverse buffet, and it generally lives up to that reputation. The dining room is spacious and lively, with multiple food stations arranged in a way that allows guests to move through the buffet comfortably without feeling overly crowded. One of the most noticeable strengths of Toucan Charlie’s is the sheer variety of food available. The buffet offers a wide selection that includes seafood, carved meats, international dishes, comfort food, and an extensive dessert station. Rather than feeling like a generic buffet, the stations are organized so guests can explore different cuisines, which adds a sense of discovery to the experience. The seafood section was particularly notable, with options such as crab legs and shrimp that appeared fresh and well maintained throughout the service period. The carving station also stood out. The roasted meats were sliced to order and retained good moisture and flavor, which is often where buffets struggle. The sides and hot dishes generally maintained good temperature and presentation, indicating that the kitchen staff were actively monitoring and replenishing the buffet rather than letting items sit too long. The dessert area was another highlight of the meal. There was a wide assortment of pastries, cakes, and small desserts that were attractively displayed and easy to sample without committing to a large portion. While buffets rarely reach the technical refinement of traditional restaurants, Toucan Charlie’s does an admirable job maintaining freshness, organization, and attentive service across a very large selection of dishes. For visitors to Reno looking for a buffet with both range and reliability, it is definitely a worthwhile stop.

  This buffet is incredible! There’s an amazing variety of food, and the dessert station is absolutely heavenly. The service was excellent as well—we were consistently acknowledged and well taken care of by the staff.

  The most excellent buffet I've been to in a while, and I've been to a lot of buffets in Vegas, all the station casinos circus circus, Caesars. The service was great, our server Delfina was awesome, very attentive, and extremely polite. It was so busy there but she handled all her customers like a soldier.

  Fantastic food, truly! The prime rib was tender and a perfect medium‑rare, the clam chowder was thick and delicious, and the gelato bar was creamy and genuinely yummy. There are so many options here, and everything we tried was excellent. The servers were friendly and helpful, and the whole experience felt well‑run. The only reason this isn’t a five‑star review is the military discount policy. Their advertising prominently states “10% off always for active duty military and veterans,” but the fine print requires signing up for a rewards membership. Since we were only in town for a day, that wasn’t worth it, so we didn’t receive the discount. Not a deal‑breaker, just an avoidable annoyance that took a bit of shine off an otherwise excellent meal.

  Had lunch at Toucan Charlie’s today and it was a wonderful experience. The quality of the food is good and the variety is huge – there is something for everybody. From hot dishes to salads and international cuisine, everything is fresh and well-maintained. The desserts section is also good – a huge variety and everything tastes good. This is the perfect way to end your meal. Add to this the friendly and attentive staff, and you are in for a wonderful time. This place is definitely worth visiting if you are in Reno and enjoy a good buffet.
