I was a little hungry and decided to go to Bojangles since I haven't been to this place since I was a little child. I also wanted to compare it to Canes. I have to say I was quite disappointed at the experience here.
When I got here, I ordered the three-piece chicken tender combo, and I ordered a side of coleslaw. They had a limited edition strawberry cobbler. As I was waiting on my order, one of the employees was out on the floor offering samples of the blueberry biscuit. That was pretty tasty, and I liked that.
Now here's where it starts to get weird. I'm looking behind that counter, in between that kitchen and counter. There has to be anywhere between 8 to 10 workers behind their counter. Somehow I waited almost 10 minutes to get my meal, and when I got my meal, my food was barely warm. I'm a passionate home cook, and I can cook all of this stuff myself. I can tell that this is set out for at least 10 minutes long. My fries were almost cold. I was totally disappointed with the fries. The chicken was almost cold as well. The coleslaw was getting soupy. I make coleslaw myself, so I can tell that this coleslaw may have been prepared and stayed refrigerated for probably about a day or more, looking at how soggy the slaw was starting to look.
The chicken tenders tasted okay; they were pretty good, just like a regular chicken tender. My meal altogether was about 18 and some change, including tax. The portions were completely satisfying, like southern hospitality in a way, but I believe what happened is that these guys probably gave me someone else's order from earlier who probably didn't pick it up at the window. That's probably why my plate was cold. Most of their employees were there. They look like young teenagers, so I don't think that they're taking too much pride in what they're doing there.
The strawberry cobbler was pretty good as well, but basically it's one of their biscuits with some strawberry filling on top with a glaze. That item right there will probably be a wonderful breakfast idea because it reminds me of biscuits and jam. The sweet tea was sweet, but it wasn't southern sweet, which I'm from. I'm from the South, and our tea tends to be very sweet, and I didn't see any lemons around.
When I probably would say the taste of everything was pretty good, I was highly disappointed with the service and the temperature of my food. I think this is a management problem. They need to have a little bit more oversight on what's going on out there and those folks keeping track of their orders.
I'm gonna give it three stars, and I'm gonna put it on the service and the food. They could do a better job.
