  Me and my partner went to eastern passage subway today. While the girl was putting cheese on each of our subs I noticed a long black hair dangling from her wrist going across our food. I said to the worker, “not to be rude but there’s a hair on you that’s caressing the food”. She walked away, took the hair off, washed her hands and continued to make our subs. I decided that I wasn’t going to eat the sub she was preparing as the thought of her hair running across my food turned my stomach. To me it is the equivalent of handing your food back after informing workers that their hair was in your food and them plucking it out and handing it back to you to eat. Just gross. My partner didn’t say anything in the moment and neither did I. I told my partner that I didn’t want to eat the sub anymore but I also did not want to be that person to say something again (hoping he would ask for her to discard of the sub/ saving me from having to say something again) but no. After she gave us our food I threw my sub out. My partner stated it was a waste of money and at that point I decided to return to the counter, and conjure the courage to explain that I wasn’t going to eat something that had her hair on it. She seemed understanding at first and quickly went to remake the subs. As she remade them she told me that I should have said something sooner- which she’s not entirely wrong however I explained to her that after I told her her hair was caressing the food I figured she would have discarded it. She explained she didn’t know what caressing meant and that she thought the hair was further up on her arm. Which is obviously not the case as I observed her removed the hair that was dangling on her wrist. She was seemingly agitated at this point. She went to apply a condiment on my sub and I said just 1 strip please. She squeezed the bottle moving back and forth down the sub at least 4-5 times. I drew her attention to the fact that I had requested just 1 strip. Instead of scraping a bit of the sauce off she tossed the sub in the trash and began to make another sandwich again. All in all I wasn’t made to feel that I had brought up a valid concern. I wasn’t met with understanding but a feeling of the workers agitation.
