I don’t think McDonald’s fully realizes what that sign says about your brand: • It tells families they are a problem to be managed, not guests to be welcomed. • It tells seniors, students, and people on a budget that they’re only tolerated as long as they’re profitable per minute. • It trades long-term loyalty and community goodwill for short-term table turnover. It also ignores accessibility. A strict 30-minute limit doesn’t account for guests with disabilities, sensory needs, or medical conditions who may need more time to eat safely, regulate, or manage medications. Some children and adults physically cannot rush through a meal. I would encourage you to consider how this policy looks through the lens of ADA, inclusion, and basic human dignity. Hospitality shouldn’t come with a timer that quietly pressures out the very people who most need a calm, welcoming space. Left without purchase when I saw the sign inside.
