While some things have changed over the last few decades, El Pollo Loco's delivery of fresh, authentic food has not. Everything starts with whole chickens that are slowly marinated in a special recipe of herbs, spices, fruit juices and garlic. The chicken is then expertly fire-grilled to perfection the authentic way - on our signature open-flame grills - then hand cut into your favorite Mexican entrees. We put that same dedication and care into our handmade guacamole, salsas and dressings every day. At El Pollo Loco in Albuquerque, NM, we believe that when real food meets real fire the result is great taste that will keep you coming back again and again.
Many customers reported that the food was often dry, bland, or not prepared correctly, leading to disappointment.
Service Issues
Numerous reviews highlighted poor customer service, including incorrect orders, long wait times, and unhelpful staff.
Cleanliness and Atmosphere
Some customers noted that the restaurant was clean, but others mentioned it felt cramped and had issues with the dining area.
Excitement vs. Reality
While many were excited about the return of El Pollo Loco, the actual experience often fell short of expectations, particularly regarding food quality and service.

I was excited, only to be disappointed at this "new" place. The parking is limited to only a few spaces. I ordered two tacos combo, and a small side of rice . It was tasteless. That came out to 17.00 with extras(guacamole). This place is also very tiny and crammed. Its overpriced and overrated. I will not be returning to this Dive again.

I was definitely disappointed! The food isn’t made correctly they didn’t give me my full order but Before you get excited and think it’s like Cali or Arizona pollo loco it’s not. Unfortunately this pollo loco is limited and not big like the west coast ones we used to. I was upset because not only is the menu limited but the food was horrible and not made correctly the food tasted nothing like the regular pollo loco it was dry and no flavor I got what I usually get my chicken Avacado tacos but tasted horrible and it’s missing the avacado lime sauce like what all it had was chicken and the avacado slices not how other pollo locos food is made or taste. They don’t even have the wraps and that’s one of the best items on the original pollo locos. I had a bad experience not only for the taste and quality of food but they missed items on my order and they didn’t fallow instructions on no pico on my tacos. However the drive through lady was very nice and respectful. If they made the food the proper way with original ingredients and had better quality It would definitely be big here in New Mexico.

When I lived in California they was out there I really didn't enjoy it their food was always dry so I decided to try them here in New Mexico since I live here now and the chicken was also dry, I don't think I'll ever go back but if I'm in the area and I'm passing by and I'm really really hungry I might do it again🤢 One more thing I should have just went to Costco and got a $5 chicken I would have been a lot better off

Atmosphere: We stood at the counter for a while and someone went in front of us and they took his order right away. The door wouldn't close to the lobby and it was cold had to keep getting up to close it vs then just locking that door since there are 2 to choose from.
Service: we were not told they were out of so many things until we tried to order them. (Guac, queso, Chipotle sauce and Ranch..likely was out of other things as well these are what we happened to try and get). My chicken was extremely dry and tiny. There was maybe 2 bites of meat on the wing. The 2 quesadillas didn't even resemble each other (I didn't take a picture). One was very small with little filling and the other was moderately filled. It was very inconsistent. They forgot our burrito and never offered dressing for the salad. The chips tasted old like they had been sitting for a while. No substitute offered for the lack of guacamole that came with the 4 meals we ordered. I've been here before in California and know how tasty it can be. I'll come back in a few months to see if they can get their act together otherwise I can't see this place lasting for very long here.
