My boyfriend and I went to Charthouse last night for our anniversary. The place itself is beautiful, super nice view of the city and the water, with a nice atmosphere and valet parking . The food was AMAZING, we got the Kim Chee calamari, the salmon and the ribeye under the chart course… We had Nick as our server, and he was very good at recommending the specials he thought would be good for us, and we ended up going with his recommendations for the appetizer and it was amazing! His service, 10/10, always checked up on us and made sure our night went smooth. Made our anniversary feel very special and we felt very welcomed and comfortable 100% recommend coming here on any occasion, especially on an anniversary, they gave us cute personalized menus for it. THANK YOU NICK! You deserve a raise!!!!

I recently photographed a surprise proposal at Chart House, and I have to say — this location is absolutely unbeatable. The views of the Manhattan skyline are breathtaking, the atmosphere is elegant, and the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating throughout the entire experience. From the waterfront scenery to the stunning natural light, everything about this venue elevates the moment. The couple had the most beautiful backdrop for their photos, and the space gave us so many options for candid, emotional, and posed shots. If you’re planning a romantic dinner, celebration, or a proposal, Chart House is one of the best spots in the area. Highly recommend!

It was a special occasion for us. Celebrating our 20th anniversary. I was looking at several different restaurants, but I kept coming back to this one. What caught my eye was, the menu, the view and reading past reviews. When we arrived, the view was stunning, and we weren't even inside yet. Plenty of parking, and if you know weehawkin, parking is difficult. We get inside and we were greeted by a very friendly hostess who also wished us a happy anniversary. I made sure to let them know when make the reservation. We get seated and the waiter, Nick was awesome. Very friendly, great personality and full of information on food, drinks and life, and he also wished us a happy anniversary. We ordered food, actually we asked Nick what we should order and his suggestions were on point. We started with the Kim chee calamari, OH MY GOODNESS, DELICIOUSNESS! My wife ordered the crispy skin salmon, amazing and I ordered the Mac nut mahi, outrageous. For dessert we had the lava cake, at this point I was so full, but I still found time to make room and finish it, .make sure you get the dessert. Now the drinks, let me just tell you this, they were right on with the consistency. Here's my conclusion, if you're looking for a nice night out, on the fence where to go, or just looking for really good food with an excellent variety, I highly recommend this place, you won't be disappointed.

Dear Chart House Owner/Management, I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to bring to your attention the disappointing experience we had during my girlfriend's birthday dinner at your restaurant recently. My girlfriend has been celebrating her birthday at Chart House since she turned 49, and she just turned 62 this year. However, this year's celebration, which included over 10 guests, was less than satisfactory. Firstly, there was only one waiter attending to our table, which was quite surprising given the size of our party. Ideally, there should have been at least one waiter handling drinks and appetizers and another for the main meal. Although the restaurant wasn't crowded, I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt that you may have been understaffed. It wasn't until I voiced my concerns about the service that another waiter was assigned to take our drink orders. The initial waiter informed me that he was only responsible for taking appetizer orders, which was quite baffling, especially since he hadn't taken my appetizer order yet. Moreover, when he finally returned, he addressed us as "ok guys," which was rather mortifying considering we were all middle-aged and senior women. Proper training on how to address diners respectfully is definitely needed. Secondly, I ordered a half dozen oysters, being an aficionado on oysters myself. To my surprise, the waiter brought me a dozen, which I didn't mind paying for, but the oysters tasted off. They had a sour, fishy taste, as if they had just been taken out of the freezer, rather than the fresh, briny ocean-like taste one would expect. This was particularly disappointing given the price of $24 for half a dozen, especially from a restaurant renowned for its surf and turf. Additionally, I was surprised to find that there wasn't a choice of wild-caught fish on the menu. While I understand the importance of sustainability, not everything needs to be sustainable, and if it is, the price should reflect that rather than being at wild-caught prices. Lastly, considering my girlfriend has been hosting her birthday dinner at Chart House for over a decade, it would have been a nice touch for the manager to come over and check if everything was to her satisfaction. In my experience, managers at other restaurants where I am a regular always make it a point to greet us and ensure everything is in order. It is disheartening to say that Chart House seems to be relying solely on its ambiance and view, while the food and service leave much to be desired. I hope you take this feedback constructively and make the necessary improvements to uphold the reputation of your restaurant. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

This used to be my top restaurant in New Jersey with unbeatable million-dollar views of the city and consistently great food. Unfortunately, the Chart House in Weehawken has gone completely downhill, off to the freeway and right into a semi truck. The place now feels overstaffed with young, disinterested receptionists, and the interior looks downright tired. The furniture is dated and very, very worn, and the floors look crusty — not what you expect from what’s supposed to be a high-end waterfront restaurant. Service was still decent, but our waiter had a heavy accent that made communication a bit difficult. The only thing that hasn’t changed are the stunning NYC skyline views but sadly, that’s where the positives end. The food, which used to be the highlight, has absolutely gone to the crapper. The $16 coconut shrimp appetizer came with only five tiny shrimp buried in a mountain of inedible fried noodles, one of the worst presentations I’ve seen, especially for the price. My seared mahi looked and tasted far from fresh and came in very small portion. The main courses were just okay, but the mashed potatoes, once creamy and flavorful are now dry, bland, and completely unseasoned. It’s honestly sad to see how far this place has fallen. To top it off, 3 out of 4 of us were fighting for the bathroom when we got home. This will be my last visit, a truly disappointing end to what was once one of my favorite dining spots in NJ.
